New Senior's Housing Facility Needs A Name

Posted by Myrna on 125 Points
A charitable organization (the Nor-Mac Community Assisted Living Initiative Inc.) is building a new senior’s housing facility, offering services to keep independent seniors healthy and engaged. Working with the local regional health authority and a senior’s support organization, we’ll offer meals, housekeeping and laundry as well as an activities program. Our tag line on our letterhead is “Nurturing independence within a caring community”. We’re looking for a building name that will appeal to today’s seniors as well as the next 2 or 3 generations and also something that will lend itself to a web presence. Thanks for considering this task.

Who are the primary decision makers speaking and acting on behalf of the seniors you're serving, and how does your existing messaging align with the self interests and desired outcomes of those people?

Thanks, Moriarity, I don't think we've been thinking along the lines of this being the "third" part of life. I'll put these in the mix and see what the response is.

Mr. Boomer, you ask very interesting questions -- we're very new at this sophisticated art of "naming", but I'll try and answer your questions: the primary decision makers are for the most part the children of our intended residents, as well as those who recognize the need for a non-medical facility that provides a barrier free environment (i.e. universal design). We are very new and our communication to date has been all about raising money to build the facility and directed to local citizens. I should maybe let you know that we are located in a rural setting in the Canadian prairies (very like the "mid-West" in the US). I hope I've interpreted your questions correctly.

My apologies, Mr. Bloomer (for misspelling your name).

Let's have a look from a different perspective.

how do words like "harbor" "haven" and "homestead" sound to you? Add your preferred prefix and you've got a name.

    Any help?

Thanks for these reponses, I believe we want a building name that our residents will respond to and be proud to identify with and the last two responses are supporting us in that direction.
