Need New Name For My Hvac/electrical Business!

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am re launching my very small business in the hopes that I will avoid so much seasonal ups and downs with work. I own a small HVAC and electrical business in north Georgia but travel all over Atlanta. I typically do residential work but have done commercial at times. I provide preventative maintenance services and can do new installs too if needed. I am not limited to just HVAC but can also tackle electrical jobs as well. I want my customers to know they are in good hands, can rely on me and my small team and that the work we do is quality, guaranteed work. I need to come up with a new name/tagline that my customers will remember and will accurately represent the pride I take in my work.

What's wrong with your current name (and what is it, by the way)?
By electrical, does that mean you're a licensed electrician as well? What types of electrical jobs?
Are you hoping to combine HVAC & electrical to solve your business ups-and-downs? Why not, for example, simply start a new business for the electrical side of things, and leave your HVAC name intact (especially if you're already known in your region)?
What makes you different/special (it's assumed that you and your competitors all promise "...in good hands, can rely on me and my small team and that the work we do is quality, guaranteed work")?
Do you have a specialty that people really need/want?

it's really important that you answer all the questions Jay has posed. We need to understand why you need to relaunch and how that's going to help. You may be expecting too much from a name/tagline.

How are prospective customers going to learn about you? Having a great name is only useful if you communicate it effectively to the right target audience. Are you prepared to invest in marketing your business?

I want you to think about your statement "guaranteed work". What guarantees do you offer? For the uncertain client, this is the clincher. You need to be very clear about what you guarantee and for how long. Detailing this sort of thing reassures good clients. (And the ones who want cheap cash jobs usually don't want to talk about guarantees - they'll organize that for themselves at your expense by getting you to do all the odd jobs for free).

Apart from the sage advice above, I am going to buck the trend and offer you some names - since you ask.

    Yourname/State/etc Guaranteed Electricals
The Guaranteed Hvac Company - all our installations come with a full* guarantee
Perfect Electrical Installations - or your money back.

The last is the sort of thing I offer for my top clients. Works very nicely too. Oh, and feel free to add/subtract from the names. They are there as suggestions for you to gnaw at.

*you can fill this out in your blurb, and state it clearly in your contracts.

What's wrong with your current name - there is another company out there who is using almost the exact same name only they put a #2 behind the name. I don't want my company being mistaken for theirs.

I have been doing HVAC work for over 15 years and in the time I have had my business I have had only 2 comebacks so what I have to offer to customers is lower costs due to low overhead, a passion for solving problems. Figuring out what is wrong with an HVAC system is like solving a puzzle and I enjoy figuring out what the issue is and what the solution will be for my customers.

    The area is metro Atlanta

If you've only had two comebacks, you can offer a guarantee that will knock your competition. I think you can afford two payouts every 15 years for the extra work it'll bring you!! After all, if the client is undecided, it could be the clincher.

HVAC Atlanta - all your problems solved at a stroke.
