Who is the target audience? Where? Why should they buy from you? Surely they have other alternatives. What makes you different from, and better than, the competition?

The name should resonate with your target audience. Simply calling it [YourName] Car Dealership won't do much for you unless your name is already familiar to everyone.

A used vehicle selling for more than $10 000 is already a niche. There are people who buy the better quality end of second hand cars, and those who don't. You need to target those people and let the rest make the mistakes with cheap vehicles - I've made enough bad choices of motorcars to know who to trust when buying them!

If you don't have enough experience of what makes a vehicle really sound, then team up with someone who does. As I say, I've bought from dealers who didn't even know as much about cars as I did - and I'm female. The thing was that I didn't know it at the time, and I didn't have the self confidence to question them either. So make sure that your customers know that they are getting their money's worth. Offer some copper-bottomed guarantees too.

So I'll have a go at some names to see if you like them:

The Newer Car Company - sensible sound cars with little usage.
    - second hand doesn't mean it's unreliable: all cars guaranteed.
The 50k Club - no cars over 50000kms or three years old. (*you can up or down this for your circumstances - there are many good cars that have done 100k in three years).

Car Value. for the newer more reliable purchase.

    What do you think?

Like the all car idea. Lets see if it works.

Where are you located? Location is a primary factor in naming an auto dealership. Used cars in Brazil verses used cars in Australia, they're are different considerations.

I like Moriarty's "copper-bottomed guarantees" concept. It seems you would be competing with the "certified pre-owned car" dealerships (at least in the US you would be).

    So maybe ...

    Nearly New Auto Dealership
    Recent Models Auto Dealership
    Slightly Used cars
    Hardly Used Cars
    Late Model Auto Dealership

We are located in Vancouver BC. Not to keen on the names
    But thanks for your help

In truth, those name suggestions are just pure guesses. You haven't really given us any meaningful criteria, how could any name solution "hit the mark" based on your postings so far? Even entry level cars (and trucks) from Korea and Japan sell for more than $10,000 when they are just two or three years old. So all we know is that you sell used cars in Vancouver BC.

Your part in this process is to answer the excellent questions posted by mgoodman. You do your part and the good marketing minds here will provide you with great feedback and perhaps a perfect name for your car dealership.

Alright so we want to specialize on all brands max 4 model years old. We also want to
Provide financing for prime and non prime customers. The type of cars we want to sell are more then likely going to be ex lease ex rentals. We will have all cars inspected by a 3rd party and certified.
Our main goal is to give the customer the new car dealer trust, comfort , quality and service with out
The big markups. So you get the service and the discount.

Now being in Canada, you have little registration plates that nobody takes much notice of. In the UK there are ginormous things with a year stamp on them that tells everybody it's a 2002 or 2007 vehicle. In Holland the plates are a little more complex but the inquiring mind can untangle it (as I did) and these too are date stamped in their own plodding way.

My point is that your nearly new cars aren't coming with a date stamp on them. My point is that you can sell a good second hand car at a sensible second hand price - and the driver peels off the forecourt in a car that LOOKS NEW. What's more, he doesn't lose 35% of his investment when he does drive off the forecourt. He might even make on the deal, but that's not the point. He - or she - gets real value for money, and if you are really into this biz, they'll get great after service too.

    So:

The Sensible Car Company. For people who value money, service and guarantees
It's A Cert! The second hand car with quality certification. Guaranteed and no quibbles.

BTW Finding out what a company can - and should - guarantee, is my expertise. It's where I start as a copywriter.
