Is "how jet engine works" the name for something? For what?

As marketing folks, it would be quite a coincidence if one of us could actually explain how a jet engine works. Maybe you were looking for PropulsionProfs or some other forum. (There's a former engineering professor somewhere turning over in his grave because I didn't just jump in and explain the Bernoulli principal and how it applies to jet engines.)

    Sense makes no question this.

It just so happens that I can explain how a jet engine works. The essence is simple, the reality of getting it working a lot more complex as you can imagine.

I can go into detail, effectively you have a turbine that you get moving by burning fuel. Spinning a turbine is the root of its power. The fact that you are heating the air in the system to a high degree means that it expands and this when shoved out the back makes the thing want to go forward. The turbine comes into play to get the air routed through and into the small chamber where the heating happens.

When you look at the huge fans on a commercial jet aircraft you are looking at a turbofan engine. The fan at the front draws enormous amounts of air into it - necessary at altitudes of 30,000 feet where there isn't much of it to share around. Some of this is passed into the turbine itself where it gets compressed by the action of the turbine and heated up. The system gets very hot: the turbine blades run at around white heat - and the rest of the air from the fan that doesn't go into the compressor actually helps keep the engine cool by running around the outside whilst getting warmer itself and thus adding to the thrust.

Now, apart from the fact that marketers sometimes need to travel to exotic places for reasons best known to themselves, what is the relevance of this question to your need for a name?
