Are you making the treats? Selling them where? To who? What makes them better than the other treats in the market?

Who are the customers you wish to sell these to? Dogs don't eat treats, they just run off with the butcher's sausages without paying.

When you look at your business from the point of view of your customer, taglines often write themselves. What is the one thing that makes your treats special that nobody else's do? This is the key to a good tagline, especially when looked at from the point of view of the pet owner. That's when the taglines are catchy, not because they're clever but because it catches the clients' eye.

Names (suggestions only - we need more info)

    "Woof woof"
    "Hey, Fido!"
    "Sit"

    Taglines (ditto)

    "Because you're a dog's best friend"

I really can't do better than that right now! M

Why do you think the name has to be "clever"?
  • Posted on Accepted
Ok, the tag line could be "Bone Apitiete".
Name could be simple your name + Dogs Treat.

I want the name to be clever so it stands out

The Flying Freckled Fido's (Dog Treats) ... conjures up a mental image and stands out, if that's all you really require from a brand name. But any dog treat business could choose this solution. It would not be a uniquely good solution for your brand.

Your name needs to be catchy with YOUR customers, not anybody else's. Great names - names that stand out - can backfire - and people might think "dog treats" and go to the local supermarket and buy someone else's.

So whatever you choose, do test it on your target audience!

I was listening to the radio a few days ago - "You get a 20 year guarantee. And we've been around long enough that we'll be there in 20 years' time to ensure that" (or somesuch). I don't remember all the details (I'll have to ask them!).

**What I do remember is WHO they are and WHAT they do. And not anybody else**.

That's what you need for your dog treats - only I can't do that without knowing who you are and what makes your treats special. Names like Steve's are fantastic, imaginative, but lack "connectivity" - as he rightly states himself. Believe me, with that sort of help from you, we can do something really great - and catchy.
