Help Me Name My Concierge Business In Hawaii

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I am starting my own personal concierge business in Honolulu Hawaii and I am having trouble finding a business name, that is unique but catchy, sophisticated but not stuffy or overused. I will provide the basics of a concierge service. I find that businesses over here use paradise, aloha, and island a lot in their names so I am trying to steer clear of those if possible. I am open to all ideas.Your input is much appreciated, thanks so much.

Who will likely hire you? Why? When? For what benefit? And what can you do that other can't/won't?

You don't want "catchy" as in clever, you want relevant, unique and memorable. You also need to know your target audience really well, talking with them and asking questions would be a good start. Then you need to know your competition really well, googling them and determining what benefits they promise as a brand is important research. For example, Isle Concierge's link is ...
    https://www.isleconcierge.com/

    A few name speculations include:

    DaKine Concierge
    Wiki Wiki Concierge

But speculation doesn't trump research. Maika'I pomaika' ...

I have a few unique ideas for my concierge business that is very different from the ordinary concierge services others provide. I have done quite a bit of research in terms of what all others in the islands offer verses what I will offer in addition to those services. I believe I can really find my niche in this business with my different but very useful and needed service. I don't want to give it away just yet, at least not until I really get things up and running in this new venture. But what I can say is that in addition to my unique service, I will also offer the normal range of services as office and home organization, errand running,,and other daily, weekly and monthly tasks my clients will need. I am very confident I can find my place along with the rest of my fellow concierge business owners. But I am just having a difficult time finding the perfect name that will get the attention ( positive attention) of possible clients to look at my site before another business.I am a bit of a perfectionist and I am having a hard time committing to any one name.Help! Any more advice> And no my unique service is nothing illegal or bordering on it just so you know. Thanks in advance an to those who answered already much thanks as well. Mahalo

Your "unique service" sounds provocative in nature. Without knowing exactly what it is and how it will benefit your customers, naming it is like shooting in the dark.

Firstly don't worry about advertising your specialty here or anywhere else, few people will see it let alone realize it affects them. By the time your specialty is working for you, people are going to be copying it fast in any case - which is where your advantage comes in: if it is really special and only you can do it (and back it up) your competitors are going to come a cropper. What's more if you are careful with your advertising, your competition will take a while to pick up on it anyway.

The real issue is that you establish a ring of good clients before the competition copy you. With those clients, you have a business - and copying becomes an annoyance not a danger.

You don't have to commit to a name: it's for your customers. Do you use Google PPC/display? If so test it - if not, just ask a few people which name they like. One will come out top, and that is the one to use even if it isn't your favorite, and you are no longer shooting in the dark. You are asking real people what they think which is quite different. Besides, by the time you have a business running and happy clients, you will love the name because it speaks to your clients and brings you together.

It means you don't choose it at all. Your customers (or potential customers) do that for you. Asking people in the street is not the most effective of advertising, it is discreet and will yield answers - and it is that which is valuable right now, not the work. You may even find you get one or two customers even so. Getting an answer to your naming question is the main issue here.

Being a perfectionist is great for someone providing a service. It speaks of enthusiasm and passion. Don't take it too far that you're late for a deadline! That is always the downside.

You should have your unique service in your tagline - again ask locals what they think as they are unlikely to spread it very far. That means your name is a little less important, at least in terms of what makes a customer choose you. It's easier to change taglines too. IF you split test it on the internet (Howie Jacobson is good at this - find him here https://askhowie.com) most of your competition won't ever see it.

How about a name that reflects the names locals use for waves or beaches (I wouldn't dare pick any - perhaps you can come back with a few you like and we can brainstorm them)?

    Hawaii Onshore
    All Around [your Island]
    Aloha* RoadRunner
    Aloha* Sprint

    * can also be your locality, island or city

What do you think of these? Do you like them, if so which ones, if you don't like them then why don't you like them? All this is important to know when naming things. Oh, and try them on a few locals, they might just have different ideas!!

Go for it!! Have fun and build yourself a business.
