A Teen Sewer

Posted by kopischke10 on 25 Points
I am a teenage sewer. I like to make gifts for friends and family (baby blankets, bags, headbands). Maybe someday, I might sell some of the things I sew. I have saved my money and want to purchase fabric labels to place on the things I sew. I am looking for a tagline/logo that is appropriate for a trendy teenager (not something fuddy duddy "handmade with love" or "sewn for you by Betty".). Please help if you can! Thanks so much.

Do you think that it matters to those that get your gifts that you're a teen? What happens when you're no longer a teen? It would seem to be better to pick a name/tagline that reflects what makes your gifts unique - and that resonates with those that like them.

I think what I meant to portray is that I was looking for something youthful. Thanks for your input!

Jay's comment are fair; however let's look at the positive side of being a teenage entrepreneur. Let's face it, you have your entire adult life ahead of you and starting a business along with that has some serious potential.

If you do as Jay says, you'll learn a great deal if you look to the things you can do that only you can do. It's all too easy to think of yourself as just another teenager in our world of teeshirts and jeans where all look the same. Stepping out into the world of business on your own two feet takes some real courage - I've done it (and failed too) a few more times than you have. If you are true to yourself, that courage needs be a lot less as you'll recognize your weaknesses - that's always what comes first. Understanding where not to tread is half the battle. After that - and it can take years - you'll come to recognize the things that make you strong. I'm over 50 and only just getting to grips with them - mind you a family did kinda get in the way! That's life ;-)

I would also like to know who you consider your best customer. I'm presuming your needlework is to a fully professional standard and that you'll be entering at that level. I would also like to know why someone should choose from you in today's crowded marketplace. Even if you don't use them now, keep these in mind because as your professionalism grows, so will your need of these insights. They are rare and hard to spot - just knowing that they're there is enough to be able to catch them as they flash by. Don't forget to come back here when you need advice, seeing businesses grow is one thing that never disappoints.

So let's see what we can do for a tagline.

Future Trends - Designs for your future.
A new take on an ordinary world
Styles that form part of the future
Great ideas from tomorrow's top designer.

I'm struggling now. Perhaps you could let us know which ones you like (or don't) and more importantly why you like them. You'll need to ask your friends/customers which ones they like - and also ask them what makes you special in their eyes. It won't be much, but you never need much of that kind of power.

"Something youthful" is OK, but more important is the MEANING of what you're including in the tagline. If you're trying to communicate the "fun" in your products, for example, then something about "Fun Threads" would work. If it's more about the quality, then "Premium Threads" might be better. Etc. (You get the idea.)

So what are you trying to communicate? Who is the target audience? Where? What do you want them to know or feel about your products?

What "style" would you call your products? Are they trendy and hip, like all bright colours and stuff? Or sophisticated? Are they luxurious, like a beautiful lacy baby blanket, or are they practical, like a thick warm baby blanket that's going to be able to handle a lot of vomit and/or whatever else?

Just so as we can picture your products a little better.
