Please Suggest A Name For My New Logistics Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting a new Logistics company. The company will be into Logistics service like Trucking initially and future expandability into Door-to-Door and Warehousing services. Also, this company would cater a niche market of refrigerated trucks and warehousing. I had thought of Rapid / Superfast Logistics Private Limited but sadly both names are already taken. I would definitely like to include either Logistics or Express name in my company. So the company would be called " _______ Logistics / Express Private Limited". The name and the work Logistics / Express would form my logo. Any suggestions please! Also similarly could you suggest a tag line as well. Thanks in advance. Viddy

Goodness! You're not asking much, are you. I want to know specifically what kind of client you envisage that needs your business. Just having a fleet of reefers isn't going to mean that people are going to change their present transport contracts just to suit you.

What can you offer to the pool of potential clients (which may be a lot smaller than you imagine)? I don't want "we're faster, quicker, cheaper, less expensive or more efficient" because anybody and everybody can do that, has done that and has all but destroyed the industry in doing so. I want something that you do that nobody else does.

Because it doesn't surprise me that Rapid/Superfast Private isn't available. It's the usual run of unimaginative names that unimaginative people use. My point is that if you get imaginative, you have a chance. Tie this into that one thing you do that nobody else does and you have the basis of a USP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unique_selling_proposition). To make it sensible for new customers you also need a guarantee. A little like Domino's Pizza "Delivered to your door in 30mins or your money back". It could be a 12hr delivery within 500kms guaranteed.

Because this takes you out of the ordinary, the competitive. Sure, you're competitive only on your own terms. It's one way out of the strictures of everybody wanting lower prices that lead you to take a job that doesn't even pay for the fuel.

You could be "500km Guaranteed" - 12hr deliveries or your money back.
"Lightning Refrigeration" lighting up the transport world.
"The Galloping Igloo" the cool way to transport perishables.

What do you think of these ;-) Moriarty.

    Hey Moriarty,
I understand and appreciate what you saying. But I am trying to concentrate and target a particular niche market i.e. the refrigerated trucking. Presently there are only 2 major players and the demand of such things are huge in this country. This is just a start off. Entire investment is in-house. Yes I want an imaginative name. Have though of a few names for my logistics like point2point, expeditors, smartway, etc. But I want to get more imaginative. Any suggestions?
I like "The Galloping Igloo" but this limits me to only refrigerated and cool transportation. I do not want my company's name to be limited to this only.

Now let's sort out a few things. "Refrigerated Trucking" is not a niche. It's an entire industry today. Refrigerated trucking on its own will be a bigger industry than the entire world's transport system in 1930. When I say "niche" I am talking about customers who need what you provide specifically. You need to know why they chose you.

Because when big companies get their grips on you, believe me, it'll be pretty hard to get out of their contracts. That is a problem you'll have to face head-on. Plus people aren't going to want to change because it's a lot of work for them, and they're doing 18hrs a day as it is.

If you're starting a refrigerated trucking business, why not limit yourself to refrigerated trucking? The point is to do something so well that customers fall over themselves to use you - and tell their friends too. Because believe me, in a country like India, such things are the bedrock of your society. Need I tell you that? Your money coming from "in house" speaks of kind uncles.

By the time you've gotten The Galloping Igloo going, people will recognize the white igloo on a blue background and so when it appears with a different logo and name it'll be recognizably similar, despite it being on the side of a tanker of the bulk liquids end of your growing empire.

Stick with one thing in mind today. Make it move, and make it pay. Make customers happy and listen to what they tell you. It may be that you go into developing an ice-cream factory instead of yet more lorries. Don't let your own ideas limit you. Your customers will give you the direction you need. Only you need customers first.

What are your thoughts on this?

As a start up business, it's best to to narrow your focus ... "niche market of refrigerated trucks". So maybe ..

    FreshArrivals Logistics
    Brisk Logistics
    ChillCargo Logistics
    Polar Shipping & Logistics

Got what others are saying, but I believe you can still go forward. Logistics is very broad, especially when it comes to trucking. Sometimes keeping it simple is better, even when using proven terminology like "fast" that still work. The key would be to back up your slogan by providing deliverables on time or early, but never LATE!!!

May want to try something like:

Ntegrated Xpress Logistics, "The Cold Way of Delivering" - Fast, Fresh and Never Late...
