Name For Our New Bbq Catering Business ?

Posted by vfountain10 on 250 Points
We are forming a new BBQ catering business in the Kansas City area.
We are asking for help in finding a name for our new business, we will also use it in competition BBQ.
Business will be custom BBQ catering for graduations, birthdays, corporate companies, weddings and personal parties. Also we are going to offer smoked meats by the pound.
We are looking at this business for a hobby and supplement income.
My husband has 20+ years as a fire fighter in the KC area so we thought it would be great to play off the fire fighter in our logo, slogan and team name. Also we are hoping to tie in our Old English BullDog LU in our name as well. Maybe a picture of her with a Fire Fighter helmet ?
Some of the names we have thought of so far :
Lu’ Smoke & Fire Crew
Lu’s Smok’n Fire Crew
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance we are looking forward to your responses !!

I think I'd focus more on the BBQ quality, flavor, and emotional "pull" of BBQ, and less on the borrowed interest of a firefighter and/or an Old English Bulldog with an unusual name. Those things mean a lot to you, of course, but your customers will care more about the BBQ than about LU.

The personally-relevant name would certainly help you enjoy your hobby, but if you want to maximize the potential of supplemental income, you probably ought to treat this more like a business ... and if you enjoy it it will be a great (and lucrative) hobby too.

Have you prepared business and marketing plans for your new business idea? If not, I'd recommend that you start with those ... and let the name issue wait a few more weeks. The marketing strategy will be far more important, and it will lead to a great name. If you start with the name, you'll find that you've limited your options for the business and marketing plans.

Why not simply "Custom BBQ of Kansas City"? The fire fighter tie-in may make sense if the BBQ is "smoking hot".

Since Kansas City is one of America's capitals of bbq, how about, "Capital BBQ of KC".

How about: " LU on fire" ?
