Nyc Tech Event Planning Company Needs Name!

Posted by kelseymsilver on 250 Points
Hi Everyone!

I'm a young woman living in NYC and am looking to start an event planning company. I want to help startup/technology companies market their products and services, and was hoping to have a fun memorable name to help promote my event planning skills. I've sent out a survey to 700 tech startups and found that over 50% of the companies have a budget for events and are willing to pay an external company to throw these events.

I was going to use the name Eventurous, but eventurous.com is taken. Any suggestions would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!
Kelsey

How about "StartupYourEvents.com" (URL is currently available)?

Firstly well done for asking them! There aren't many folk who'll take that kind of trouble.

I'm guessing that your audience - the 50% who responded - are looking for a fun name. You've gotten results so far, take the suggested names - and see which your customers like. After all, they're buying, right?

fling-it.biz is available (as in fling a party - or is that only UK English?) - and .biz fits my impression of what you're doing.
    partybubbles.biz
    partystartup.com/biz

Now your family name is Silver (is this right?) that's a great name for starters. Do you want to use that?

    SilverService.biz is available (!)
    SilverSplash.biz

What are your thoughts, which do you like, which don't you like, and what's your feel about what your customers will like?

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I'd like to keep my last night out of it - although it is a pretty cool last name :) My boyfriend works in tech and said that I should stick to a .com domain.

I like startupyourevents.com, flingit (although fling-it.com is taken!) and partystartup.com.

I was thinking Eventurous NYC, but I don't want to link the name to NYC in case I eventually do events in other cities.

Again, thank you for your suggestions! Please keep them coming :)

.com is good for SEO - and still is largely. This is gradually changing now. I have a .nl site and it ranks well enough in the US. For startups who are more "funky" a .biz would be more along their lines of thinking.

If in doubt, ask them! Then you'll know. I can't answer that for sure, it's just a hunch.

Now ... keeping your "last night" out of it - did you two have a tiff ;-) ;-) ... but sure, if you don't want to use your last name, that's fine. It has potential that's all. What about when you marry, he takes your name ... :-)

If you do use NYC it won't stop you working elsewhere, it only means you come from NY. It wouldn't worry me (but then, I'm not buying, right).

If you use startup in your name, what happens when they've started up and are now large corporations that like your style?

partyeventplanning.biz is available - loads of .coms are taken in this competitive market.
flingyourpartywithme is available across the board, even .co.za!
    partyflinging.com
