Searching For Name For A Psychology Practice

Posted by tracy4 on 250 Points
I am searching for a name for a psychology practice.
I had chosen one that had the word "tree" in it and a logo designed accordingly. Unforunately, I only found out after the fact that the name is taken by a professional clinic offering similar services. As I have a logo designed, including a tree I am trying to search for a name that somehow incorporates the word "Tree" or the idea or concept of a tree. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Before I start, what imagery are we suggesting with a tree? I am a Jungian, as you might have guessed.

Has the professional clinic trademarked their name? I presume this is the case.

Add to this mix the fact that it needs to communicate with your prospective clients.

So what have we in the tree as metaphor? It is stationary, yet it grows. It is ever young through its new leaves yet can be the oldest being on the planet. Likewise it is both small and large. From that it can be a metaphor for society, the individual and the crowd.

    And that sort of drivel.

What kind of tree is in your picture - that you say "tree" and not "conifer" suggests the broad elm-like leafy things that most will conjour in their imagination. Forgetting the ash, poplar and hazel that are also deciduous.

You can begin to see the direction of my thoughts.

Are there elms, oaks or other such trees in your locality? Perhaps not elms with the Dutch Elm disease that still kills off any new seedlings.

    The Oak Psychology Practice
Evergreen Psychological Practice (who said anything about being logical? this is outside the box!)
Tree of Life PP (or however you wish to describe yourselves)
Tie a yellow ribbon around the old psychological practice (doesn't scan)
Yellow Ribbons (thinking of adding them to your logo - they speak of hope, after all and an escape/release from imprisonment).
    The Greenleaf Tree (renewal)

Anything you like? Let us know - including those you don't like. More importantly the ones your prospects like (and don't like).

Your business name doesn't have to use the word "tree" in the name to allow you to use a tree in your logo - you can connect the logo to your business name in your tagline (if necessary). If you're not wed to using the word "tree", perhaps it'd be better to create a name that identifies what you do, for who, and why they'd want to work with you.

As Jay points out, you don't have to use the word "tree" to effectively communicate a characteristic or emotional connection to tree imagery.

Words associated with a tree logo/symbol include ..

    1) Root(s)
"Many psychologists believe that the root problem is .."
    2) Growth
"Emotional growth is promoted by the use of psychological principles".
    3) Seed(s)
    "Nurturing the seeds of recovery".

On the other hand, it's better to spend the time and money on developing new "logo" image that is the right solution for any new name you decide to use. In the long run, getting it right is the most important goal.

How are you differentiating your practice from competitors? Who are you targeting? Where are they? How will they find out about your services? What benefit do you provide that others do not?

More input from you will help us provide good name suggestions.
