Help With Tagline/log Line For Theatre Production

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We're looking to create a more engaging tagline and log line for a show that just finished the Hollywood Fringe Festival and is now going to NY International Fringe Festival. I've pasted the synopsis below in hopes that will help.
I don't see a place I can put a pic but you can see it here: https://www.hff13.org/1229

We've been using this log line:
The true tale of a child’s life as the sole interpreter for her deaf parents, and the funny, daring and eye opening story of how she found her own voice.

Here is the current synopsis:

Gloria Rosen’s Listen… Can You Hear Me Now?, is an autobiographical one woman show based on her life growing up as the hearing child and sole interpreter for her two deaf parents. She was the vigilant listener – the one to sort out all the sounds, let her parents know what was happening at all times, and be their connection to the hearing world.

The show invites you into her childhood home where ringing telephones and doorbells were wired to lights that lit up the house; watching TV with her parents required absolute concentration as her job was to lip synch all the shows; and we see what happens when she tries to pretend she can’t hear so she can make friends with the children in her parents’ club for the deaf.

“Listen…Can You Hear Me Now?” is unexpectedly funny, daring and eye-opening. It speaks volumes about being an outsider, whether within one’s own family or in society as a whole. Regardless of the circumstances, we can all relate to never quite belonging – and trying to find our own place in the world.

Her life, and this show, has been a journey to find her own voice. To reach all of those standing on the outside looking in – so they can know that there is a place for them…a place for everyone.

The ups and downs of living in a world that is deaf
A journey through a world that can't hear
What you'll learn from a world you've never seen ;-)
Sounding the waters of a noiseless ocean
Learning to live in a world that sees but never listens

What do you think? Are they in the direction you want to go? If not, why not and we can try different approaches.

I think I like the last one the best. But I would be so grateful for more brainstorming. We've been told to avoid journey as this is a one-woman show and every solo show in the festival is apparently "on a journey" - ha ha
My goal is to get butts in the seats.
This show is funny, but at times dramatic and heartbreaking.
It definitely shows us a world that most people have no idea exists. Her childhood was very challenging but she's able to find the humor in it as well.

    - and did I say THANK YOU.... thank you! I'm so grateful for your brain power!! -

Thanks, Michelle. It's nice to work with people who listen - it's a rare talent. I only put journey in as it was on your website. I agree that it's overused, but then it was still a useful step in the process! Challenging childhoods are sometimes the best, especially if the child has the strength to come through.

Seeing the funny side of a deaf world.
Listening to a world that's deaf.
    Seeing with deaf ears
Laughing loudly when people can't hear you
What happens when they can't hear you laugh

What was the line "nobody can hear you scream in space"?

Mix, match, tear apart, throw up in the air and catch ...
