Whilst the pump name needs to be "generic" it must still refer to you as a business. The world we live in is getting fiercer by the day and margins are being slashed. Wasting money on advertising is a fool's errand and the way to counter it is through honing your activities to the most profitable kinds of clients you can get your hands on.

That way your advertising spend becomes an advertising investment. Whilst not guaranteed, it is way better than just throwing money out there.

Part of this process is to be as specific about what your business does, making it crystal clear to your very best customers (or prospects) why they should buy their pumps from you and nobody else. Does the quality of engineering mean that they're less prone to breaking down? What kinds of guarantees can you offer? Is your aftersales service brilliant? All these are suggestions to tempt prospects tired by the same turgid claims. A breath of honesty goes a long, long way in a world bored by corporate speak.
