We are updating a one line description that will be printed in a conference program for scholars and researchers. The current posting is: Center for Social Work Research: A focal point for community engagement and faculty research.

I'm dissatisfied with the words "focal point" and looking for options. Thanks in advance.

    Whilst you are dissatisfied with the wording "focal point" - what do the people who need your services think? After all, your branding is for them, not you ;-)

    You are a center, and centers are of their nature a focal point. Other possibilities could be

    Establishment (etc)
    Yourtown center (etc)
    Where community and faculty gather
    Where community and faculty meet

    Any good?
