Know-How Exchange : Taglines/Names

Think about it this way: what does the customer see? Our carpet fitters used to get large tips because the place looked so nice when they'd finished. That they'd barely spent the morning there meant nothing, that they'd made it look nice after months of carpentry, plastering and painting was neither here nor there. After they'd been, it looked fab.

The point is to communicate what you do to those who need you. That's when your tagline is catchy - otherwise it's another annoying jingle. Remember that people go to the bathroom when the ads come on. That's because their ads are "catchy". Ever meet Douglas the butter trombonist? Aardman of Bristol did his animations, and had people shouting from the livingroom to come and see him. Now that's advertising as it should be: as good as the TV program it runs along the side of.

So who is hiring you - builders or the homeowner? Two very different kinds of customer with very different needs.
