Well, usually that means you know what you do too well. Which shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody as it's your job and it's how you make a living. So think of it this way - you are a craftsman, and the best craftsmen I knew could explain very complex ideas in simple and effective language. I know that, because that's how I learned about roofs myself. Okay, so I'm a girl; I have put on roofs as my ex was a carpenter and I helped him on occasions.

Now down to the practicalities: I can come up with a few ideas for you, but they will be broad and unfocused. Necessarily so since you haven't shared those details with us. So take them and form them in a way that suits you - and is the sort of thing that you could say to a six year old kid. The kind who looks at you as you step out of your van - and since you don't want to look dumb, you tell him straight "I'm going to repair Mr. Jackson's roof today!" So think of your tagline a little bit like that. It has to be direct, simple and descriptive of what you do - so that the kid understands immediately that you make your living putting on roofs.

    Pitch, Mansard or flat roofs.
If it's a bit above your head, call in an expert (that was our tagline, by the way!)
Tiles, slates and felt: we do it all.
    New roofs and repairs.

And that sort of thing. Tweak them, grind them up, mix and match [tm]. At least this is a start.

Most of your clients will (probably) live within a certain area: if your goal is to be found online, connect your business solution (roofing) to your geographical area.
