A Name For Employee Reward And Recognition Program

Posted by krystel.grigoriadis on 125 Points
I work in the financial sector and I need to come up with a name for our new employee reward and recognition program. As it is an internal program we can be creative and fun. I am looking for something that will excite our employees.

Have you had a program like this in the past? If so, what was it called?
Why "creative and fun" name? Why isn't the program as-defined interesting enough to your employees?
What will excite your employees? How do you know?
What's the name of your company?

No this is the first time we have had a program like this. I want something fun, creative or quirky. The program itself is very exciting (I think it'll really excite the employees) and I want that to come across in the name. I don't want something as plain as Rewards and Recognition Program. As we are in the financial industry we need to be conservative with our brand look and feel. This is our chance to be a bit more fun.

Good morning. A few thoughts; when you say "I think it'll really excite the employees" you need to check this out somehow. Ask a few open questions that allows them to respond in their own way. There are two advantages to this - firstly they'll tell you what they think is exciting and secondly they may give you ideas that you hadn't considered.

The other issue is of a rather more delicate nature. How are you going to reward poor performing employees who are still doing a good job only not getting results? There are people who don't seem to do anything yet inspire the others to getting them - do you see my point here? I'll give you an idea of what I mean. The school my kids went to had a game they'd play during their Physical Education lessons. It was called 'Prisoner' and was a kind of volleyball. Only when a point was scored, the captain of that team (usually the best player but not always) was able to choose which player from the opposing side would be imprisoned on the bench! (Or choose to have one of his own re-instated).

It also meant that the kids who weren't very good got way more practice and got more chance to score a goal (or whatever they called these things). Can you see the psychology behind this? It didn't reward a kid for not being good, but it did give them more chance to be better. When you tie your imagination to the underlying psychology involved, you'll get some startling results.

My point is that you need to make this something that everyone can join in, and doesn't make people think that the "usual suspects" will end up bagging all the swag.

Anyway, this drivel hasn't gotten us any further with any ideas for names, has it? Which is why you're here, and it's what I'm supposed to answer. But then creative types do tend to be a little difficult to handle as the forum moderator knows.

How much did you pile up? [well, that's what they think they're there to do ... ]
Wad! [did you ever work in the financial districts of London?]
    Stack it!
    Fill your barrel!

But all these are ... encouraging the sort of behaviour that doesn't make for a great office atmosphere. Well, they can as long as everybody's at it.

Nine Green Banknotes [are Aussie banknotes green? - as in nine green bottles]

Look, are these any good, can you improve or add anything that'll direct this imagination of mine in a direction you'd prefer?
