So why would you lose your mind over a name?

Start by defining your target audience more precisely. Who are the folks that need what you plan to do? Where in New York do they live? (New York is a big city ... 5 boroughs and all.) What do they do now to achieve the benefit you plan to deliver? Why might they want to switch to your service? Can you describe a typical project or relationship that makes sense for your new company?

Do you have a business and marketing plan? How will your target audience know you exist? How will they find you?

Focus on these issues. If you do a good job of that the name will be much easier. No need to lose your mind. You will need it to make your business successful.

Thanks so much mgoodman! The business would be in Manhattan. My clients are mainly men. Middle age professionals who I offer services such as setting up maids, dinner reservations, car, private events, launches, errands, personal shopping, household organization.

Pretty much what every personal concierge company does. i am lucky however I have my clients already from introductions from my previous boss.

Just need a name to get set up legally.

So you've been in the biz - that's as good a start as any. Firstly I'd like to upgrade on Mr Goodman's advice - and since you're sitting on the answers, this should be pretty easy for you.

What have your customers always complemented you on, without being prompted?
What were the most popular things you did for them?

Now a few ideas for you. They can't be specific, in any case you can add words or names that you think describe yourself better. It's focused brainstorming.

    Uptown Avenues
    Uptown Concierge
    Uptown Appointments service
    North of the Battery
    Above Battery Park
    Shady Avenues

None of which tell you anything about what you do, but have some air or descriptiveness of what life's like in Manhattan. All of which is pure imagination, the last time I was in Central Park, I was six ...

Is there anything you like, has it prompted any ideas - or am I in completely the wrong direction (please hint and I can do something totally different).

I'd recommend a straightforward and descriptive name like:

    Manhattan Concierge Services, LLC
    or
    Big Apple Concierge Services, LLC

If those are taken you can change the first word to Broadway or Columbus Circle or Fifth Avenue. It's not really necessary for the name to be "creative." You already have your clients, and they are not hiring you because you have a creative name.

Mr Goodman's probably right, it's still nice to have a cool name though ... ;-) You have the luxury of clients, that means the choice really is yours.
