Looking For A Band Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
A classic rock band has been formed and we are looking for a name. Drummer, bass, two guitars and singer. All men in their 40's. The drummer and one of the guitar players are brothers - last name Liberty. Everyone has been playing since they were teenagers...can't think of anything catchy. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Well, there are a lot of classic rock styles, and being a live band means you do something rather special even within this 'niche'. What are the favorite songs that your audience really cheer you for? Because your name needs to chime with them too. After all, that's who you're playing for!

    How about -

    Liberty brothers
    Liberty Gang
    Liberty Gathering
    Classic Gathering

Nothing special yet, let's take another direction

Seventies Gathering (as in 1970s when you guys were born - or are you sixties guys??)
Five Up (or four up if you're only a foursome)
    Fives classic (ditto)
Ten Feet Skyward (it might have to be shortened to eight feet skyward if there's only four of you).
    Clouds Classic
    liberty clouds

Do you like any of these? Do they spark any thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback. The band plays songs from groups including, but not limited to Tom Petty, Stepenwolf, Neil Young, April Wine, Johnny Rivers/Blackfoot, Reo Speedwagon, Spirit and Thin Lizzy to name a few. I think we may want to stay away from anything containing Liberty, but I will certainly pass the names along. Any other thoughts?

You can always put some other word in for "Liberty" - such as a local landmark.

A few other completely zany ideas

    Level Cloud
    Cloudbase
Cloudy gathering. [again, I'm in a rut! Sorry!]

See what they you all think, I'll bet that you'll come up with something given some outside input.

Teka, let us know which ones you all liked, bring them back here by the end of the week, along with any reactions/suggestions. Then we can go through the process again for you! Have fun :-)

I will, thank you. So far we like: Ten Feet Skyward, New String Riders and the Barge Brothers. It's difficult pleasing old farts who are stuck in their ways. lol. With that being said though, this brainstorming session has been helpful!!

Never mind them being stuck in their ways, by the time you've all had three beers, they'll have loosened up enough to choose a name they like.

These are all great suggestions! I was thinking....what if the name symbolized everyone's journey. Five guys, married, divorced, kids, playing since 15-16, now in their late 40's, blue collar....????
  • Posted by SteveByrneMarketing on Member
I think five blue collar old friends in their 40's (playing 60s through 80s rock) is what will matter to your audiences. The rest goes with any five guys in their 40's.
