Need Advice On Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am starting an event planning business which caters to all events from birthday parties to weddings. I need advice on a name. I have a few ideas but im not sure how catchy they are. I am located in Albuquerque New Mexico. Here are the names I came up with

Endlessly Alluring
Endlessly Memorable
Celestial Experience

I would prefer something with the word endless in it because these are events that should be remembered forever.

Thank you for your time

Avoid "endless". If anyone experiences a negative event that you've organized, the name "endless" could come back to bite you.

Similarly, and if you search through this forum, you'll find my aversion to the term "catchy". Avoid "catchy" is does NOT sell.

Simply use your name and the words "Event planning", with perhaps, a locality of the ZIP codes of postal codes, city, region that you serve.

Then, focus on being FABULOUS. Focus on being AWESOME. And in time, your business will blossom.

    Good luck to you.

How about "Memorable" or "Memorably" instead of "Endless" - because memories are enduring but are much nicer than being endless ;-)

How about "Melanie's Memorable Events"? Because on its own, Memorable Events is a little bland, but you're not!

If someone's organising a birthday party would they be thinking "endlessly alluring" or "celestial experience" when flicking through a phone book? Wouldn't it be more about finding someone else to take away the hassle, or to add a sparkle of imagination, or take away the grunt work of organisation - someone you can trust to get it done? Your name on the company may provide that sense of personal trust and care.

(Aside: Different types of events have different expectations (business meetings vs. birthday parties vs. weddings), different budgets, and different guest needs. While you can certainly offer event planning for everything, consider specializing in one type of event - and in ways that your competition can't/won't.)

I'm not a fan of the word "Endless" in your name, because that's not a clear benefit (endless doesn't necessarily mean "delightful" or "wonderful"). In your region there are a wide variety of planning companies (https://www.eventective.com/USA/New+Mexico/Albuquerque/Event-Planners.html) - with varied names. If your name is well-known, consider using it in your business name. If not, focus on something unique you wish to offer: Beautifully Small Events, or Loving Events, etc.

Thank you for your replies. There are 125 Melanie Martinez's in Albuquerque alone, there is a total of 365 Melanie Martinez's in New Mexico. Since my name is so popular out here that is why I am looking for something different.

I am actually thinking of specializing in Themed events and same sex events ( since there are not many out here that approve of the same sex unions and in NM it just became legal). I love events that are unusual and over the top with colors and design. Maybe this will help. Thank you again for all your time.

Here in Holland one of the "signatures" of the same-sex movement (as you might describe it) is the rainbow. It's used on flags and allsorts. Does this inspire anything?

    "Rainbow Events"
    "Melanie's Rainbow"

or somesuch ... ? It would establish you in their niche.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. I still havent come up with a name. I know personalizing it with my name is a good idea but since there are so many Melani Martinez's in New Mexico I really dont want to use my name. I went on the eventective website and only 2 of the planners listed are actually in business. Im not sure what happen to the others. I have found a wedding planner out here that is willing to let me shadow here for a little while. She invited me to a meeting with the Bridal Association and alot of people were asking for cards which I dont have becuause I havent thought of a name so I got their cards so that I can send them all my info once I get it going. Im still working on a certification here at a local college and shadowing the event planner I met. Im still in need of a name tho. Thank you again to everyone for helping me out
