Name And Tagline For Ladies Clothing Store

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi,

I am starting up a new small clothing store online and I need a name for it. I will be selling women's and teenage girls clothing. My initials are 'TAG' but since that name already exists i am unable to use it. I need a cool and catchy name. Any suggestions with names including 'Tag' or without 'Tag' would be really helpful. Thanks!

You're likely trying to target to wide an audience - a teen is unlikely to shop at the same place as their mom would. And these different audiences have different needs/styles. How do you plan to accommodate this discrepancy?

As Jay suggests, you need to narrow your target audience. And drop the thing about using your initials. That kind of "inside joke" doesn't help communicate your positioning message to the target audience. I just gets in the way. Your target audience doesn't care what your initials are.

Sorry for not being clear. I meant Teens and young adults.
Yes I agree. Since the name tag was related to clothing i just wanted to add that to the name for instance like 'red tag clothing' but that's already taken. I'm just struggling coming up with a name that suits teenagers and young adults clothing. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Those are great names! Thanks!

I came up with a name 'Neon.TAG', does that sound like a good name for a clothing store?

"Neon.TAG" does not sound like a suitable name to me. It doesn't suggest or say what you are selling or what unique benefit you offer.

What are you trying to communicate with the name? Where is your target audience?

When you say you're struggling in coming up with a name, that's not as unusual as it sounds. Looking at your business from the point of view of your customers is practically the hardest thing to do on the planet (which is why so few businesses even think of it, and few marketers even offer this in their services).

So what would teenagers be looking for in a tag? It has to be cool and trendy.

    You could have

    iTag-jeanz (itagjeans.com and itagjeanz.com are both available)

Do you like this approach? tag-jeanz.com is available you could also have neon-tag-jeanz too.

    Thanks that was really helpful.
I decided to call my store, Chic empire. But that name is already taken by someone in another country, If i add 'The' infront of the name and call it 'The Chic Empire' will I be able to use the name without any problems?

To my mind, if they're established in another country, you could call yourself "Chic Empire" where you are - but do go along to the Chamber of Commerce (or whatever it's called where you are, where businesses are registered) and make sure that it's not taken in your country. Do also check with their website (terms & conditions) that they're not operating wherever you are.

Online is a little different, but the-chic-empire would be seen by the search engines as a TOTALLY different site.

    Realize that https://chic-empire.com to a computer is - 011010000111010001110100011100000011101000101111001011110110001101101000011010010110001100101101011001010110110101110000011010010111001001100101001011100110001101101111011011010000110100001010

can you see the differences? No, nor can I, but a computer can.

In fact, if you want a space - a computer needs to be told it's there using this code: 00100000. We just sees a gap. Computers don't do gaps, that's when they crash.
