Know-How Exchange : Taglines/Names

Have you satisfied yourself that the CONCEPT resonates with enough people to make this a successful business? Do you have a rough business/marketing plan? If so, then we need to have some of this information so we know who the primary target audience is and how they're going to learn about the business. And where will consumers buy this product?

All of this needs to be taken into consideration BEFORE you deal with the name.

How about simply, "Top Dog Ice Cream Company"?

Where are your buyers?

Are they beach people? C]Are they people? Mountain and woods people? Lakeside people?

Do dog owners even know about or "get" the idea of ice cream for their pooch? How much will you need to educate your ideal buyers in order to stimulate their need (and hence, demand) for your product?

The steeper the learning curve for your buyers is, the longer it will take you to gain momentum in the marketplace, and really, for this kind of product in whatever market you'll bet selling in, I'd say you need a good amount of momentum from the moment you say "go" and BEFORE your product is actually available (in order to stimulate demand).

How will you get your product in front of these people?

Through pet stores? Through social media? By word of mouth? By being simply awesome?

How often are they likely to buy from you and at what price point?

The reason for all these questions is that before you get all goofy about a name, you need to her sure of your business's structure and viability. You MUST know (you can't guess, you cannot wing it), you must know and thence be able to project how much product you'll be able to make and ship and then of often you'll need to make and ship new product to the outlets you'll be selling through.
