Trying To Decide Between 2 Names

Posted by vivicubilla on 90 Points
Hi, you all helped me come up with a name for my granola business a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to go with White Mountain Kitchen (I live in NH), but unfortunately the secretary of state rejected it because there is a business called White Mountain Cafe, and they deemed it to be too similar. So I found myself back at square 1, and after thinking about it for a long time I decided to go with either Maple Nut Kitchen, LLC, or Maple Nut Kitchen Co., LLC. I just need help deciding whether to include the word Company at the end or not! I keep going back and forth, and I cannot make up my mind! I am trying to picture the name on the packaging with the "Co." at the end, on the one hand I tink it adds a cool touch to it, but then I'm not sure if it might be too long? Would love some thoughts on what you think sounds better. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I agree that it probably doesn't matter very much, just one of those small decisions I could not make up my mind on, and I wanted somebody else's opinion. I love your vision of tha packaging, I will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks!!

I don't have a problem with long names, as long as every word brings something to the party -- contributes to the communication in a meaningful way.

For me, "Company" just gets in the way, doesn't add anything important. If anything it suggests a commercial intent, detracting from the folksy "Maple Nut Kitchen" family-owned home-recipe feeling. "Kitchen" is a room in the family home where enticing aromas and great food make it the place to be. "Company" suggests that some corporate entity has gobbled up the kitchen and now mass produces the stuff that Grandma used to make by hand, one batch at a time, with lots of love.

Just one person's opinion, of course. But it can be easily researched if you really think it's worth the time and money. After all, it isn't our opinions that count. It's the collective opinion of your customers.
