Naming A Chocolate Scent Shampoo For Girls

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi, so I need three potential names for a new shampoo.

- aimed at girls aged 6-8
- smells like chocolate
- comes in a funny looking package
- to be sold on the European market

Would you go with a descriptive name? or maybe an evocative one? Abstract name might be a tough seller albeit I haven't ruled it out due to the Juliet principle.

On the other hand, and given the demographic age, maybe a phoetic name would be a good one. Would be a kid more receptive to rhyme or to alliteration.?

Thanks for any insight you may bestow upon me. :)

    Hi,

In my opinion, little girls between 6 and 8 years old are becoming young girls passionate by style, fashion, models and so on. I know little girls up to 4 years old who are very keen to wear only what they like or take mama's lipstick or make-up, they have their own bags to carry their girl things. So in our days young girls are inspired by fancy magazines, Barbie look and style. Maybe it is not valid for everyone but taking in consideration all the materials promoted for this category, the way they behave and how they are dressed, we can see which is the trend for the majority and how they are educated. It would be good for you to have some market studies about this topic.
Of course, those aspirations of young girls depends on their mum's budget and how she encourage those behaviours.
So the name of your shampoo maybe should also be dedicated to mums.

I tried to write down some ideas.

    Shampoo Name:

    Lovely Chocohair ( simple )
    ChocoFancy
    Chochi Curly
Happy Hair (when you eat chocolate you are happy)
    Sweet like me
    chocolate waves
    ChochiBreeze
    It's Chocolateable ( remarkable, adorable...)
    Young Ladies Chochistyle!

I don't know who are you competitors and what they do. Maybe you could make a small research among them, if there are any, to see what they did till now.

Ioana, thank you for your time and such a well-put reply. I appreciate it.

Didn't know girls that young are that fashion-concious… little bit scary, isn't it.?

Sadly I would have to rule out some of your names cause 'chochi' has negative connotations in spanish and Spain would be a big market for this product. But still, it is clear to me that the product should be named in English… unless there is some French word recognisible enough besides "chocolat" and that one would be a bit misleading IMHO.

I like how 'Happy Hair' doesn't limit the future growth of the product. Albeit I have to ponder if it is a bit too literal.

Does any of the names below convey anything cool enough for a girl?

betsy-bathy (it would need a 'Betsy' but then, Barbie could obliterate it)

nopy-choppy (I wonder if girls would like a choppy hair, if so, choco-choppy?)

pass-it (neither choco, nor girly enough)

kid's stuff (could be anything besides shampoo)

sparkly-bathy (pity the bathy side of it)

    splish-splash

    What do you think?

Also, Is there anything kids say when they are bathing?

Have you done a product placement test for this product yet? If so, it might help to see what moms and kids had to say. Often their comments will lead to a naming direction.

Why do you need 3 potential names? Why not 4 or 5? Isn't one great one enough?

Where would you expect your primary target audience to be?

What information do you have that indicates the concept itself has appeal? Maybe that will lead us to a name.
