Junk Recycling

Posted by spencer1982 on 250 Points
Our concept is like 800 we got junk ,but want the name to focus more on the recycling or green aspect. I want to come up with a clever name that will tell the customer we are about green recycling. I think the consumer wants to recycle and a great name will help them make a decision to use us . Thanks

From the perspective of your customer, why would they contact you? To have you take stuff to the dump? To tear apart their old products into the separate parts and truly recycle each material? To take things to the recycling center? Why wouldn't they call 800 we got junk? Also, where are you located?
  • Posted by spencer1982 on Author
I guess you didn't read the question I posted? Please read again ! The whole concept is NOT to take stuff to the land fills . Why does it matter where i am Located ?

Do you think your customers want to recycle or do you know for sure? Have you asked them, and if
so, how many of them gave you detailed answers that you can use and that you can own as "only" statements in a double blind survey?

Jay's asking where you're located because unless you're setting out to develop a nationwide franchise, it may serve you well to include your city or state name IN your business name.

What sets you apart in a major way from 800-GOT-JUNK? What makes you different, better, cleaner, greener, more appealing? What's your experience and background? How will you process hard to handle junk? What can you say that's only true for YOUR business (an "only" statement)?

Your name really needs to speak to people's needs and wants rather than being clever. The more you can tell us about your company, the better the answers you'll receive.

Naming isn't as much about describing what you do as it is about telling your target audience what unique and important benefit you provide for them.

So who is your primary target audience? Where? What is your unique positioning benefit? If you can't describe it to us, then how will you possibly describe it to prospective customers?

P.S. What YOU think customers want doesn't really matter. If you're going to commit to making this a successful business, you need to find out what customers want for sure. Have you spoken with a dozen people in your primary target audience? If so, what did THEY say? If not, don't you think that might be a better way to come at this before you spend a lot of time, energy and money trying to get this business off the ground?

I thought I had a brilliant idea: brand the business as 'One Man's Trash', and then I did a domain name search and found somebody has already built the business model I envisioned, and it already doing it. Check out: https://www.one-mans-trash-recycle.com/

I think you'll find the folks listed above are already going down the path I was going to recommend to you. Darn it! Oh well, be worth looking into to see how they are doing it, perhaps there is some inspiration there for you.

    Hope this reply helps you.

I guess your readers really don't read what i have asked ! (moderator )I wouldn't post positive things about Market Prof's ...Again read What i am asking!! You asked for one question and now you want me to explain my marketing plan!! Of course a name isn't going to make a consumer buy from you DUHHHH..That is what a good website does or great referrals !! LET ASK YOU MODERATOR ..If you could repurpose something or throw in a landfill ..which would you pick?? Do you care? Have you heard of global warming? To produce something is almost always going to take a natural resource away as well as cause green house gases!! If I needed your advice about running a business I would have asked ..Moderator What business have you run and made any money ..I have been running my own business for the last 35 years !! ALLL I want is an IDEA for a NAME ..that's all I asked !! Why would people keep coming to this web site if your going to change the topic of the question?? It makes no difference where you start your concept..I am thinking both these guys must own a 800 got junk business!!

If any of you people that don't own a 800 got junk franchise have an idea for a green name please send a response to the e-amil address below. MODERATOR pls make sure that you tell people in the future they will be grilled by people who have no idea about business..The smart question would have been whats you competition ? What do they charge ? Can you do it better for less? Can you duplicate in a weak market ? [Email address deleted by staff. This information belongs in the Member Profile, not the response.]

By the way, you come to this site for expertise. A name is essential to the brand, and has to fit the true purpose. We ask questions to ensure the business LAN is well thought out and we can provide more tailored suggestions. Many times the questions make the business owner re-think their value proposition or narrow their target market. If you don't want that I sight and expertise, just post the question in Facebook and get generic answers that may not fit your business.

    Correction: business name, not LAN

Just a quickie: I am not an active "moderator" here. I'm a consultant who has been involved in a whole range of different businesses over the years (including some I've owned and run and sold), including clients ranging from start-ups to the Fortune Top 25. I contribute here because I like the idea of sharing my experience with people who are not professional marketers.

The "moderator" designation is a result of a project I completed for MarketingProfs a few years ago in which I had to have access to certain information, and making me a "moderator" was the easiest way to make that happen.

As for the questions, the better we understand your business goals and strategy, the better able we are to come up with a name that will communicate the right message to the right target audience. If you don't want to share that information with us, there isn't much we can do to help you. That's OK with us, but you don't need to become belligerent or disrespectful to make your point.

I think you'll find that folks here genuinely want to help, and the vast majority of entrepreneurs who come here for help are most appreciative for our contributions. If you went to a professional naming firm, you would pay a lot more for the assistance, they would ask you all the same questions, and they would "fire you" if you were not respectful. (Maybe we should charge for this service?)

Your third or 4th person understood the question and took a shot at the name. I appreciate the effort ,but that's all I asked for! This is such a simple concept and you guys are really over thinking the idea. I hope someone will read my question an actually answer with an idea !

I read your question. I also asked a few questions that were designed to help me help you.
None of which you saw fit to address.

    Names:

    We-Haul-Recycling
    Recycling Removers
    Recycling Kings
    Recycling Movers
    We Recycle You
    Treasures From Recyclables
    Green Machine

I hope these meet your needs.

Websites CAN generate sales AS LONG AS several key elements are in place, likewise
when it comes to generating referrals. If you already know what these things are, go for it.

Please understand that contributors to this forum (none of whom are paid for their time and contributions) ask additional questions in order to help the people asking the questions.

    Good luck with your venture.

Folks here ask for more information because the same business ideas crop up very regularly. What makes you unique makes it easier for everyone to make suggestions and the most unique names will connect the business to the location or owners name.
