Need A Tagline For My Crafting/sewing Label

Posted by drgarnecki on 250 Points
I'm creating a sewing label for handmade accessories: bags, coffee cozies, quilted pencil rolls, and similar items. Most of these items will be used as gifts, but there's a possibility that I may open an online store or sell items for retail in some local boutiques. Target market would be people women ages 22 - 50 who desire unique, handmade items created from sustainable materials by a local artist.

The label I'm using is "Morning Rain" which is the English translation of my daughter's name. Originally, I created a few of the handmade items as gifts to families who helped financially support our daughter's adoption from China.

I plan to include my children in the creation of some of these products, and their desire is to raise funds for another future adoption.

I'd like help coming up with a tagline that embodies the inspiration behind the name. The fabrics, designs, and little details bring to mind words like mod or modern, fun & fresh, punchy. Instead of the typical "handmade" or "made in the USA" or "made in Virginia", I was thinking "heart made" as a play on "made with love".

Please fire away with suggestions. Thanks for your consideration!

It's not clear if you want a tagline for the business or just for the labels. If it's for the labels, I'm not sure you really need a tagline. What would be the purpose? Once someone has purchased an item, all you really want is to give them a way to find you if they want another/similar item, right?

If it's for the business, you would probably want a tagline that expresses the feeling you want them to have when they think about "Morning Rain." Perhaps something like "A nice way to start your day," or "Naturally Crafted in [Location]."

I wouldn't burden your target audience with the whole "adoption" thing. Just give them something they want -- beautiful, handcrafted gifts. Ditto with how you came up with a name that won't mean anything to them. Let that be your secret.

To design a logo and labels, it'll help my designer know a tag line. Yes, for now, I just want labels, but the website comes next. It is there I'll add a tag line, etc.

Since "local artist" is part of what you are offering, we should probably know where "local" is. Maybe there's a way to reference the location or a well-known landmark in your tagline to communicate "local."
