Photography Business Needs Name Ideas

Posted by amblake1992 on 250 Points
I am a young, aspiring photographer and I need to start building my business.

I've seen a catchy name in my area ("a photo by Ashley") and it really stuck in my head. Which is great for her branding. But I'm at a dead end with my ideas.

My name is Ashlyn Blake and I will start off with portraits and petography. But I dont want the name to concentrate on either of those. Something catchy with my name.

Ashyln - if people don't know who you are, then putting your name in your business name won't help your prospective clients. If you don't want to focus on specifics, perhaps you can focus on who you're trying to attract: business owners? families? realtors? advertising agencies? What about your photography makes people want to work with YOU? Where are you located?

Forget "catchy" and don't use your name. Give prospective customers a reason to want what you offer -- something that tells them why they should hire you instead of some other, more-experienced photographer.

P.S. What makes "a photo by Ashley" so catchy?

Try thinking about what you might like your business to be called after 10 years of hard, successful work. Kind of like dressing for the job you want, think about what you want your business to be. Do you want to work at (and it takes real work) becoming some level of celebrity? A technical virtuoso? What sort of name might be suitable for your business vision?
If you are still having trouble...talk about some of that stuff here, someone will likely come up with a gem (few here want to spend much time on a generic name).
