Announcing A Name Change Externally

Posted by sashton on 125 Points
We recently changed our franchised name and I don't want to put out advertising that says the cliché "New name, same great service" Anyone else have a better ideas for a tag phrase I could use to express that same message??

What's the reason for the change? What was the perception of the old name? Besides the name, will anything about the service you provide be different?

Why not simply say in your advertising:

    NEW COMPANY NAME
    (formerly old company name)

Why don't you want to use the tried-and-true approach? What's driving the search for something new/different?

So essentially we have two sides of our business. One side has a lot of brand equity in the name, and the other side we used to use a franchise name from a different company. so the name change is meant to bring awareness that this part of the business is also part of our larger brands family. The billboard campaign is going to say welcome to the family and have the new logo. The new logo has similar elements and a similar name to our existing company. The tagline is going on the direct-mail piece to all of our existing customers to notify them of the name change. But I'm just looking for something a little bit more creative than "new name same great service".
