Posted by gerson on 125 Points
Have a business for over 5 years, but I want to rename it.
I am on the East Coast, and I am looking for something modern that will catch attention.
Thanks

I'm presuming this is you: https://www.bbb.org/boston/business-reviews/painters-commercial-or-resident...

What other kinds of painting do you do: interior, exterior, commercial, residential? Where do you do it (ZIP-code wise)? In and around East Falmouth MA? Or farther afield?

What's your motivation for changing a 5-year-old and likely recognized name?
    What's your specialty?
What differentiates you from other painters in your area?

I am a DBA, GR Painting, and I want to change that, it will only affect new customers, old ones have direct contact w/ me. I do residential and commercial, I work mostly on the Cape and Islands, but have clients on Boston, Maine, Ct and NY.
The majority of the painting companies in the area, have the owners name's initials as the business name, GR painting its pretty much the same, and I want to change that. I recently got a new slogan, a modern slogan, and I want the name to reflect that.
I do mostly hi end jobs, but wont turn down a small job either, interior, exterior, etc.
BTW Ice Cold Services, belive or not come out of Ice Cold, Andre 3000 from Outkast, what is cooler than being cool? Ice Cold!
    Thanks for the help.

    Gr8

    Topcoats

    Prime Painters

    Colorburst / Colormasters

Details - Premium painting (or Detailing)

    Freshface

If you have an angle/USP - eg high rises, colour matching, eco-paints, delicates, rough surfaces, finishing treatments, renovations, new build, high speed, special finishes etc that would help sharpen suggestions.

    Some names to play with:
Martha's Painting Company (after Martha's Vineyard)
Verrazzano Painters (after Giovanni da Verrazzano)
    Cape Codder Painters
  • Posted by gerson on Author
Aside from Verrazzano, all the names are already existent, I would like something tht its not named after a town or place on the cape, but a modern catchy word, my first idea wa excelsior painting, but I moved away from it, cant remember why.

"I would like something tht its not named after a town or place on the cape, but a modern catchy word …"

I regret to inform you that your liking preferences are based on flawed logic.

These days, when you need something specific—a particular service provider or a targeted solution to a precise problem, what do you do? Where do you go?

Fifteen years ago, most people would have gone to the Yellow Pages. Today, increasing numbers of people go to the Internet, and specifically, to Google, Bing, Yahoo!, MSN, and AoL.

On those platforms, few people are searching for names such as Excelsior Painting. They're more inclined to look for terms such as Cape Cod house painting services. You can call your company whatever you want, but in terms of online visibility, you'll be better off creating a presence that speaks to the need being sought.
