Brand image is a reflection of your products, systems, and your people. Get your business systems in order. Make sure your products suit your market. Advertise where your target customers look. Develop a good reputation.
At that point you could probably start to think about your brand image.

Ask your buyers which key traits and qualities of this brand are most important to them as current buyers. Do NOT guess. Do NOT presume. Do NOT assume. Find out. Work forward from there.

If you haven't already, conduct a SWOT analysis. For example, investigate your competitor through the eyes of a prospective customer. How does your brand stack up? And if you are too entrenched in your way of doing things, hire a consultant to give you some fresh insights.

When you say you want to "improve our brand image," it's important to know what the brand image is now, and what you want to "improve" about it. Is there a specific goal, or are you just wanting some undefined "better?"

If the current image is "way too expensive," then a pricing adjustment can probably "improve our brand image" very quickly.

How will you measure success of your improved-brand-image initiative? What's the goal? How much better? By when? At what cost?
