Are you focusing on a certain industry?
Can you share some examples of how you helped clients by thinking outside the box?
Since your competition also has years of experience, custom solutions, and knowledge of trucking - why would someone choose to work specifically with you?

YOUR main focus may be on the trucking industry, but what's important to your customers and prospective customers? How do they choose a freight forwarder? What are the criteria THEY use to pick a trucker? Are they looking for "outside the box" or safety, reliability, or something else?

Compettive rates, on time delivery and communication technology is important to our potential customers. Reliability is very important in our business

You didn't mention "out of the box thinking" as something that's important to potential customers. How does that give you competitive advantage? I'm not getting it.
  • Posted by Seopacks on Author
Well I can go and write an essay on "out side the box" thinking! It would require quite a bit of logistics knowledge to understand where we have to get creative to make everything work and get our customer best rates.

But is that going to resonate with your target audience, or will it just sound like some mumbo-jumbo to them?

I'd focus on the core benefit for your customer, as perceived by them. How you do it, or how much out-of-the-box stuff goes on that they don't see, doesn't matter to them, as long as you deliver whatever is most important to them.

Skip the stuff about how long you've been doing this, and how out-of-the-box you can be, and get to the unique and compelling benefit you offer to your customer. Once we nail that down, we can develop a great name (and perhaps a tagline to go with it).

"Compettive rates, on time delivery and communication technology is important to our potential customers. Reliability is very important in our business."

Is this what YOU think? Or do you know for a fact that these are the things your clients welcome most?

Unless you've doen a good amount of double blind research that's furnished you with solid facts about the things your clients value most, I'd urge you to rethink your position. What's important to you may not matter to clients but the opposite is never true: what may not matter to you may be vital to them. Your task is to figure out what those things are and to cater to them in ways no other service provider does.

We know for the fact that reliability is important to our customers. As far as rates goes, that is no brainier, Everyone wants to save money. In our business communication is very important. I have talked to many clients where their existing suppliers do not communicate with them regarding delays etc (which is very simple thing) Keep them updated regarding the progress of their freight is simplest thing where most of competitor are lacking.
