Tagline For Healthcare Social Network

Posted by renny.brahmaait on 250 Points
I'm in charge of coming up with a creative and concise tagline for a social network website for health sciences professionals. Apart from the social network part, the website will also have a careers module and an option for companies to advertise medical equipment and services.

Consider it as the LinkedIn for medical professionals. The tagline has to be catchy and it is required that people understand what the website is about from the tagline. It should be as short as possible. I'm finding this really difficult and need help ASAP!

A million thanks in advance.

What's the name of the network?
Who specifically is likely to join? Why? Where are they located?
How will this network differ from other social networks?
Since the key to success in a social network is having a large member base, what's your marketing plan to get the member base signed up and regularly re-visiting?

My preference is to offer you advice on how you can do this yourself, not to do work for you.

If I were considering a social network such as you describe, I would begin by trying to find five or six or a dozen online groups which are basically similar in nature and in target market. I would spend a few months participating in those groups, to understand what niches they serve, what problems are expressed, and what opportunities may exist for a new group. I wouldn't spend too much time guessing what their needs are in advance.

I'm speaking from personal experience. I was frustrated that I couldn't get help in a certain area, and so I jumped in with both feet in attempting to set up a new entity. Just as I got started and after I had accepted (a small amount) of money from third parties, I found out there was in fact an existing Yahoo! News group which was doing a fantastic job and was serving the same needs I thought to address.

If you are successful in findings some groups which are similar to your idea, you can begin to build a list of contacts and build relationships with industry people who can help your idea, identify additional related resources, Contribute articles, identify potential advertisers, and maybe even help you come up with a catchy name.

Unfortunately, this takes time. Maybe you don't you have that much time. Maybe you think that you can just launch a business, you can afford to pay your own salary within the first weeks or months. In my experience, that is asking for trouble. Of course, I don't know your situation, and I am mostly guessing. But it would probably be wiser to begin a new venture slowly and part-time and without the need to pay your personal salary for the first 6 to 9 months.

    Good luck, and take care.

For health sciences professionals". Is that people who make, sell, and/or service technological medical devices?

Four basic functional areas to the site:
    Social exchange
    Career building/Jobs
    Equipment sales
    Services

A short, catchy tagline that describes this. I think you nailed it-
    "L****dIn for Medical Professionals"

What is the name of the network? Who and where is the primary target audience? What benefit can they expect if they join?

The network is for life science professionals. As in those working in and affiliated to the medical and pharmaceutical fields. They can expect a platform that enables better interaction and exchange of information when they sign up for this network. Potential job seekers and employers can also expect a fair degree of transparency and ease when doing their thing,

Thanks for providing a bit more information. How is your idea different or better than a LinkedIn discussion group?

I'm not in a position to answer about how this is different from LinkedIn. I'm just tasked with a tagline. Let's just say that the network is for a tightly-knit community of health science professionals
