Need A Business Name!

Posted by dejantesevic on 250 Points
Hi all,

I'm starting a new business and am in need of a name. I will be supplying and installing retractable blinds, awnings and roofs to the domestic and commercial market. The products are designed to keep heat and rain out of a designated area whilst providing the client full control with the press of a button. The product is of high quality and the target market will be of high socioeconomic status. As the product is designed to provide shade and shelter from the elements in general, I would like to avoid words such as; sun, rain & shade in the name as to not limit myself. I am looking for something robust, perhaps with two to three syllables maximum. It can be a made up word, perhaps a few words combined or even something from another language. Ideally something that speaks quality. I would appreciate any help with this as I have been scratching my head trying to come up with something that I like. Anything I have thought of doesn't excite me. Thanks in advance!

How can we avoid suggesting a name that "doesn't excite me?" I'm not sure YOU are well served by setting your excitement level as a criterion for the name. After all, it's your target audience that has to respond, not you.

Start by telling us more about the benefit someone in your target audience can expect. Where are they? Why do they buy whatever it is you sell? How do they make a purchase decision? What's important to them?

The point about things not exciting you misses the point: you are not your customer. What terms are prospects looking for? Which region, city, town, or state will you serve? There in lies your name.
