Name Needed For Benefit Concert

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
We are holding what we hope will be an annual benefit concert for children with cancer in CT. It will benefit more than one organization but is NOT about CURE or RESEARCH. it is to raise funds to support children and families while they are in treatment. Most parents have to give up working for the first year and more than 70% of families cannot pay their bills at some point during their child's treatment. Concert is September 1st - which kicks of childhood cancer awareness month - Gold is the color of pediatric cancer, but does not have to be part of the name. Other key words; families, support, life within the journey. As background info- 80% of children diagnosed with cancer survive but all have to go through grueling treatments that can last up to 3 years. Our tag line is "until no family has to hear the words your child has cancer, we will be here." Our website for reference is www.thecircleofcare.org

Direct but not really Catchy! Not sure how that would look on a t-shirt- Hoping for something catchy- provocative and fun.

The purpose here is "to raise funds". There are many grades between solemn and frivolous. Different levels of funders tend to have comfort levels in which they operate. Your analysis tells you something catchy—provocative and fun will optimize funds raised. Okay. I just don't have anything in that direction yet.

Agreed- this is meant to be a feel good event - guests should have fun while doing good - Many of the attendees will be coming because of the band and the cause is secondary. We will make it meaningful during the event. This is kind of the opposite of a relay for life where everyone is coming because of how cancer has touched their lives - we hope to build that over time.

What about something that makes it a local event ... for children close to home? Perhaps:

    Nutmeg Kids Concert

    Connecticut Kids Concert

Yes local can be good - I'm hoping to find a "hook" that we can build on - Like Pink Aid, or Cochella, or lolapalooza - something that will appeal to teens and young adults - Some of the words we have been throwing around are hope, heros, superheros, chemo, rad (for radiation) gold, bold, brave- we want to have a visual element to the event as well - either chinese lanterns or a sea of one color -

    Here's a new twist
43 children a re diagnosed every day in the US so what about

    43 today

    Other stats are

200 in CT every year - and Gold is the color of pediatric cancer….

The measurement of gold weight (or any precious gemstone) is a carat - initials CT

One carat is equal to 200 milligrams - or 0.200g

So "200 in CT" has a tie to the 200 diagnosed in Connecticut and a carat of gold.

43 carats is 8600 milligrams or 86 grams (right?)

….and you all know what it means when you 86 something….to get rid of it!

    Anything here?
