Name/ Tag Name For A Line Of Totes And Bags

Posted by athinbluethread on 250 Points
Company name is A Thin Blue Thread Embroidery, LLC. The name is derived from the law enforcement slogan a thin blue line. We have one line of products called Blue Baby Gear. Looking for a catchy phrase that would also help promote the company in addition to the totes and bag line. our target consumer will be women between the age of 25 and 60. We are a small business and are located in the Southeast of the United States. So in addition to women ages 25-60 we are also targeting Southern women with an economic income of over $50,000 annually. These are the working women, both blue collar and white collar types of employment. These will be the women who support local law enforcement. The catch phrase needs to be something that is tough and blue collar worthy without offending the white collar woman. This is a very important aspect of my business. I would really love "blue" worked into the catch phrase/ tag name as it is part of the company name. But not as an adjective, more of a noun. We make totes, jewelry bags, dog treat pouches, and customize all of them.

What makes your products different from your competition? What's unique/special about them?
Is your target audience women who support local law enforcement or women in general (who might not care about the law enforcement connection)?

We customize every tote and every bag. You could by a regular bag off the shelf. Or you could be one of our custom bags. Customized the way you want it. If you want a monogram and on it or if dragonflies are your favorite thing we can customize an embroidery unique to you.

The audience is women in general. However, to appeal is for woman who support law enforcement.

Here's some mix & match ideas for you to play around with. You seem to have given prominence in your comments to totes and bages at the expense of an accessory range, so you will have to giver your own weightings to your eventual selection:

… we make bespoke totes & bags for unique women

A Thin Blue Thread Embroidery, LLC
… personalized totes & bags for special women

I like the use of the words "unique, special and personality". Bespoke is not a common word used in this area. Although, I like the idea behind using it. We are a made to order/ custom business.

I am really looking more for a name/ catch phrase to call the line of totes and bags. How does "Blue Bespoke Totes" sound?

I still have the problem of most people won't recognize that bespoke is "made to order".

How about playing off the police motto instead: "Customized To Serve & Protect Your Valuables" (for example)?
  • Posted by athinbluethread on Author
Yeah I like the idea of incorporating the To Serve and To Protect. But I don't think I want to name the line of totes that. For a catch phrase in reference to the totes how does Custom made to serve and protect your valuables? But that would lead one to believe the bags were way more secure than other totes and they are not. I absolutely do not want to mislead people.

How does "Blue Bags" sound? Does it make you think of negative things?

    Maybe "Blue Personalized Bags"?

What about "Blue Gear Bags"? It would simulate the Blue Baby Gear line of baby products. But is it too close?

Maybe "Blue Gear Totes & Bags"???

The word "blue" in your tagline will likely cause confusion. Are you only selling one color?
Instead, focus on why someone would LOVE your offerings in your tagline, and don't try to reuse a word in your business name in your tagline.

ok so they love the bags because they are beautiful, customized, and cool looking.

Then your tagline should communicate one or all of the things you note: (1) beautiful, (2) customized, and (3) cool looking. (Beautiful and customized are features, not benefits.) Of those three, none are really about the ultimate benefit, though "cool looking" comes closest. What is the BENEFIT (to your customer) of "cool looking?"

We participated in an event where we were a vendor this last weekend. The experience we had at the event along with the awesome questions I have been asked here have caused me to rethink what direction we are going. I really appreciate the questions that have caused me to rethink the what my product line looks like and what it is about the line that is better than everyone else's. What benefit our products have for our customers. I am sure I will need more help again real soon. Thank you all for participating in my search for help.
