How To Find Backlinks In A Unpopular Industry?

How to do backlinks in a unpopular industry, such as pharmaceutical industry and machinery industry?
Since many of our competitors are paying attention to press releasing, I can't find as much as possible backlinks related in our industry.

    For people looking for what you sell this is NOT an "unpopular industry." You only want backlinks from relevant sites, right?

    You need to go back to basics and define the primary target audience. Then promote the unique and important core benefit the target audience can expect when they do business with you. If you don't have a strong strategic message, backlinks won't do much for you in the long run.
