I Need A Patriotic Name For My New Store! Help! :)

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am opening up a country store in RI. In that store we will have penny candy, crafts on consignment, favors, invitations, knitting, crocheting and quilting lessons and much more. Now, my question is this...does anyone have any ideas of a name for my store? I want something patriotic...something country! ______Country Store would be nice at the end of it. Is there a place on line to help me do this or do I have to wrack my brains out trying to think of something? I thought maybe someone out there in cyber land could help. PLEASE HELP ME! ;)

    1776 Country Store

Do brand names that use numbers stand out? I think they do and they can be easily merchandized by using the "1776" graphic on everything from t-shirts to ???

    hope this helps,

    What about:

    Old Glory Mercantile

    or

    Yankee Trading Post

    American Country Store
    Trading Post Country Store
    The Old Country Store
    The Ocean State Country Store
    The Violet Country Store
    The Red Maple Country Store

How am I doing for someone WAY out of town ?

    I'm suprised Andrew didn't suggest a "colonial" name. ;]

Joanne, you can play with a word like Yankee by adding descriptors to it (Old Yankee, New Yankee, Blue Yankee, Dead Yankee, Fresh Yankee). Or you can make Yankee the adjective (Yankee Charm, Yankee Goods, Yankee Treasure).

Try the same process with the word Patriot.

"Country Store" makes me think of a place to buy jam and dried beans. That's why I suggested alternatives like Mercantile or Trading Post.

If you do decide to use any of the suggestions here, by the way, please remember to post that as a comment. We like to know when our stuff really helps!

    Putting an Australian perspective here...

    How about:

    "Gone Bush"?

(OK, I'll get my coat now, and duck as I go through the doorway to avoid Shelley's torrent of three-day old gravy biscuits)

As a Patriot is loyal, how about using word “loyal” as in –

    Loyal Red Country Store
    The Loyal Yankee Country Store
    Loyal American Country Store
    U.S. Loyal Country Store

I liked Shelley’s idea to freely substitute Mercantile, Trading Post, Emporium etc for Country Store.

    Hope this helps,

forgot an "S" to hook to R.I.'s navy history.

    The U.S.S. Loyal Country Store

    Sometimes insomnia generates more ideas...

Your store name could include an icon of American history, like Mayflower.

Another patriotic word to consider in the mix: Liberty.

Sorry about all the Bush jokes. (Can you tell we like to have fun around here?)

Yeah, I *know* "Bush" means something else... I lived in New York quite a while and understand the language slightly better than I speak it... The connotation I had in mind related to the name of a couple of Commanders-in-Chief, including the incumbent. Who is not Shelley's favourite person...

Anyway that joke obviously fell flat with some (except Shelley, who countered brilliantly, mwa X) so I had better make amends to poor Joannek1776 with a few "serious" suggestions.

OK, RI, home of the Rhode Island Red...?

Rhode Island Red White and Blue?
    Pilgrims Point Of Purchase
    Providence Providores
    Cornucopia
Rhode Island Tucker Box (yeah, Australian culture goes down OK in some places in the USA although Rhode Island may still be sore about a certain boat race in 1983)
    Providence Exchange
    Godzone Providence
    The Cure for Consumption
    Rhode Island Freedom Store

BTW apropos of nothing to do with this thread except the notion of home cooked candies and country store atmosphere - I came across this really interesting document from a neighbouring state - worth a read... https://www.ptvermont.org/publications/HomegrownEconomy/Homegrown%20Economy...

    Hope some of this helps.

Is this a tourist shop btw ? If it is, current research suggest that US theme may not be appropriate!

Okay, how about a slightly playful one that has blends Americana with a spirit of fun? (Maybe terminally cute, but catchy!)

    "Yankee Panky" (or "Yankee Pankee")
