Getting A Quick Response

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
As a creative director I am always trying to get a good balance between non verbal communication (colour, size etc.) and a clearly written message. Either way what I would like to know from all the marketing managers/directors out there is… what would get the best response from you if I wanted you to use my Ad agency? Would it be an indication of price (value for money), an example of previous work (client list), or perhaps a wild DM piece that says nothing other than – hey these guys look creative?

This I guess is a difficult one and any feedback would be fantastic as I have to go to print with one of a few ideas within a couple of weeks!!

My personal opinion is that it has to look, feel and communicate value. I want to know what is in it for me and if I have to figure that out I am not interested. I am not looking for price; I want to be convinced that using your agency is going to make me look good. As far as what the piece should look like I don't know, but please make it stand out so it doesn't end up with all the other direct mail pieces I get. It is like they are all created from the same mold. Whacky might just be what you need to stand out. Good luck

    Russell,

THE WORLD IS ONE BIG VISUAL...
As an artist with a degree in accounting/art, a very successful relative who has been a creative Art Director I would have to say it mostly depends on your audience of viewers. For me I could be persuaded either way.

    HISTORICALLY SPEAKING...
But I believe at the core of all strong movements historically and currently people have been motivated by the "Non Verbal" message more than the analytical.

THE IMAGE STILL RULES (LIKE THE PAINTINGS ON CAVE WALLS PICTURES CAME FIRST...
"The Image" or as I like to sometimes say the I-Mage (the imaginary) communicates at a far quicker, deeper and at a more effective rate than anything we could use.

THEN WRITTEN WORDS A LONGER WAY TO TRANSCRIBE THE IMAGE...
And let's not forget that words are images too. As a matter of fact all letters at the very core of their creation were once pictures that have eventually been translated down into the short-hand version we all now use so frequently. At the root of all of your words & images is an arrangement, a secret order that can be very provocative and compelling.

THE POWER OF THE EYE GATE...(GIVE ME A PICTURE),,,
Before children learn to speak or use words they are motivated, led and fed by what comes through their eye gate and the other key way to reach US quite effectively is through the ear gate. I believe before people begin to read one word of what you've written they gorge on the colors and sizes of fonts, the composition, the arrangements of words the meaning, your intent, your reputation/cleint list than price.

    You don't have to
    agree, with me,
    it's perfectly okay.
    But this is my reply,
    to your question today.

Is there anything else I can do for you? A picture is still worth a thousand words.

    Russell,

    you are absolutely right.

GET QUITE TAKE A LONG WALK AWAY FROM EVERTHING AND...
Never go against your convictions...they are the inner voice that no one can hear but you. When ever I have heard from deep within me I never go against that. Every success that I have ever experienced has grown out of learning to listen to my convictions. When I know that I know that I KNOW and I have (slowed down and relaxed) become quite within myself so I can hear from the great creator within me...I let no one distract, distrub or move me away from that no matter how ridiculous, crazy or impossible it may appear to others who are looking at natural circumstances without realizing that "what we see was not created from what is seen".

CREATIVE IDEAS ARE YOUR POWER SOURCE...
Creative ideas are the power that will drive this economy in the present and more so in the future. Be encouraged Russell, read my customer profile, send me an email and I will be a constant reminder to you that you can continue to be more successful than you have ever imagined in your past I don't care what it looks like on the surface (miracles do still happen for us).

See your future in your minds eye. My dad use to say to me often

"I see said the blind man"

my dad was a very wise man...do you "SEE" what I'm saying?

Just curious - why is a "quick" response important? Is your company in financial difficulty, so that you need the money now? Are you unsure that you will be in the market for long - so you want to close business quick so you can go do something else? Do you not have enough pull in your organization to internally sell the value of a sustained program (and if so - why would I buy advertising from you?).

Why is everyone in such a rush?
