Tagline Needed For Playground Equipment Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are in the midst of brainstorming various tag lines that will hopefully allow us to stand out from the crowd. We have many quality competitors, and then some not-so-quality. However, there are certain things we do very well that we are looking to take advantage of in our tag line. Some information about us:

- we sell top quality residential and commercial playground equipment; our product lines are manufactured with high quality materials which include uv inhibitors to protect against weathering/fading - often not found in most retail store playground products.

- our dominant customer base that of one-time orders from the residential line of business - moms, parents, grandparents, etc...

- we are a small, hands-on operation going into our second year of business - internet only.

- we pride ourselves on EXCELLENT customer service; we always go the extra mile for our customers or potential customers - this is where we feel we are differencing ourselves from our competitors. we answer emails/calls on nights, weekends, holidays, etc and do every single thing within reason to make our customers happy...

- we continuously monitor our pricing to make sure we are NO HIGHER than our main competitors, and most times we are lower

- we are an honest, hard-working small business that actually cares about our customers and the products we represent

- our website reflects a "fun", playful website in terms of color schemes, logo (have incorporated a tire swing, children, slide, etc...into the logo itself), etc...

Thanks for all help I receive! Looking forward to all responses!

Ronnie, I don't know why you haven't been smothered with responses yet.

    Some ideas, off the cuff...

    "Fun for life."

    or...

    "Fun for life, available online."

Not my best effort. If anything else comes to mind, I shall return!

    Hmmm...off my own cuff:

    "Where Quality Fun Is Guaranteed"
    or
    "Quality Fun Guaranteed"

Is the website Playproviders.com ? If it is, it needs some polishing up.

My cuff had another off idea:

    "Because quality fun matters."

Then I saw your site. Now I think this direction for a tagline makes more sense:

"Get outside and have real fun!"
"The real fun is waiting outside."
    "Quality fun is just outside!"
"Have big fun outside with us."
    "Years of outdoor fun."

There are several good ideas for taglines. The problem is there is no great way to tell which will serve you best. The criteria for picking a "winner" are not clear.

Good taglines, like good advertising, are based on clear and persuasive communication of a singleminded positioning statement. Without the positioning statement, it's a little like getting in your car and driving, changing direction every now and then, and hoping you'll end up somewhere you want to be.

(Remember the Yogi Berra line: "If you don't know where you're going, you'll end up someplace else.")

My strong suggestion is that you go back to your business plan and think through the positioning statement. Once you have that, the tagline project will be much, much easier.

If you need help with the positioning statement, let me refer you to the appendix (I think it's Appendix C) in Rasputin For Hire : An inside look at management consulting between jobs or as a second career. It lists the requirements of a good positioning statement, etc.

Without the positioning statement, it's just not clear how you're going to select the right tagline -- regardless of how clever or creative the submissions are.

P.S. An unrelated marketing question: If your product and service are superior to competition, why is your price equal or lower? Sounds like someone didn't think this one through very carefully. You may want to bring in some experienced marketing strategy help.
