Questions In A Bottle

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
What would you think about having a form to help post questions?

This could be done by having some optional fields (with drop-down menus) defining if the question relates to:
- Product / Service
- B2B / B2C / B2G, etc.
- Geographical location (US, Europe, Asia, etc.)
- Specific industry.
- Etc.

Of course, the asker could decide to use it or not. Then again, I suppose it shouldn't be too cumbersome or confusing.

Purpose would be to help clarify some questions. Any ideas, suggestions, comments? Would that help or not? Is it feasible or not? Any experience of other forums having used or using such a model?

Thanks,

N.

    Hi Nicolas,

It is a great idea, it sure would make a lot better use of our time to know more specifics about the questions. The vague and general nature of them seems to be increasing.

I do know that the team at Marketing Profs is aware of this problem and would like to implement a system for improving it, so perhaps you want to include them in on everything so as not to waste time and ideas and avoid any redundant and parallel thoughts and energy.

Mandatory: Yes, just like all sign up accounts there needs to be minimal amount so we can understand the problem.

Drop down boxes: I like that idea, easy, not too much friction, not as much as typing anyway.

Minimalist: Absolutely, otherwise we will just end up with more, bad information.

Great Idea! Thanks for bringing it up.

I agree. It would be helpful to know what region and what arena (B2B, B2C, etc.) an inquirier is posting from.

This is especially important with International questions since laws, customs, and culture differ greatly across the globe.

The form could be helpful as a framework for people who don't know how to ask their questions. I think Val's suggestions about B2x/Industry/Product/Country are good, but don't have a pulldown list to select for Product unless there is an option to add something new.

I think 24 hours is too fast to close even a HOT question. Let the world go round a couple of spins before pulling the plug.

I wonder what the statistics are on responses received after seven days? Seems to me questions get answered pretty damn quick...

MP-KHE continues to be the most dynamic and active forum I have yet seen on the internet. Well done everyone.
