What differentiates organizations that have high confidence in their data from businesses that lack confidence in their data?
To find out, Collibra and Ascend2 conducted a survey in December 2024 among 458 professionals in the United Kingdom and the United States in data governance and risk/compliance roles, all from organizations with $500 million or more in annual revenue.
Some 60% of respondents say they have high confidence in their organization’s data use, quality, and governance, and 40% say they lack confidence.
Respondents who report high confidence in their data are more likely to say their organization monitors data consistency, assesses the timeliness of data, validates data formats, and has high visibility into data pipelines.
Respondents who report high confidence in their data are also more likely to say their organization has...
- Well-established data governance roles
- Standardized data policies and terminology and conducts regular audits of data policies
- Data governance goals that closely align with overall organizational goals
- Defined KPIs to track data governance
- Fully standardized data definitions
Respondents as a whole say their top goal for enabling greater data utilization in the coming year is to improve data consistency and quality.
