This question is a bit like asking which organ in the body is the most important. The brain? The Heart? The liver? The answer is they are all equally important because if one's not working, the others don't matter a whole lot.

The same with marketing. Without the "science" of how and where to apply the art, the art isn't any less beautiful and eye-catching. It just isn't effective at "marketing." Without art, creativity, ingenuity, and ideas, the "science" of marketing is barren and dry.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi - the answer is:

    1. Science: most of marketing has been tried before and results are known to the many tests that have been carried out. But you need to be in touch with someone who has the experience to know what those tests have established so you don't re-invent a wobbly wheel.

    2. Art: once the scientific framework and parameters are known and set out, the art part is what communicates the special nature of the product you are selling in a novel and imaginative way.

    And there you have it.

Along the same lines as Peter:

Marketing is a science as there are certain rules you need to follow.

Marketing is an art in that the more you do it, the better you get.

    Mac504,

    I hope you're having a great day!

TRUE MARKETING IS ..."THE ART OF BALANCE"...

THE CIRCUS JUGGLERS "CREATIVE BALANCE" COMBINED WITH THE ACCOUNTANTS "THEORY OF BALANCE"...ON THE SAME BALANCE SHEET OF MUSIC.

Marketing is truly a discipline. It includes both facets of Scientific rules of thinking (or principles) combined with a host of unlimited creative options that are both spiritually fulfilling and extremely artistic.

In order to be wildly successful both of these are required in varied forms of combinations depending on the ever elusive, ever evolving customer client.

When we begin to think marketing is all science we get a stiff, coldness that is lifeless and inflexible causing immediate failure.

When we begin to think marketing is all artistic we get an extreme exaggeration, a burning hotness that is lifeless and over flexible with out any hint of structure causing immediate failure. Remember our only real problem in life is our failure to be more creative than we’ve ever been. If you “Invent” your opportunity YOU WILL most definitely create your future. Just know that I'm here for you if you need me. Is there anything else I can do for you?
