Customer Centrality In Education

Posted by Anonymous on 100 Points
Can someone help, i haven't written an assignment for many years and i am now doing my MSc in Mgt. First topic - Marketing - Question: Customer Centrality within an Organisation. I am thinking of doing it on FE College and how students are central to the business. I thought about using SERVQUAL and PESTEL but i just don't know where to start.
I don't know whether it may be an idea to go along the lines of just looking at the enrolment process or am i just making it harder for myself - any advice greatly appreciated
thank you

Are you looking at conventional on-site education or e-learning?

The two are different in that the latter has customers paying a fee for a product and the remainder still have pupils of students who are buying an education.

What SERVQUAL has to do with the marketing aspects of either, I can’t see. It has a lot to do with repeat use of the service, deliverance of the requisite course materials and maintenance of academic standards.

My old Alma-Mater wouldn’t recognise either of the terms – St Andrews awarded the brightest a place, set out a framework, gave support and then expected the students to do the work. OK, it uses more intensive student course support in a pro-active manner these days and support was always available if you asked for it, but as to the quality of the content which was delivered? It was content for God’s sake! Lectures were largely optional, tutorials not so optional and practicals mandatory but any criticism over quality was inevitably met by the response that, “If we couldn’t handle the level of tuition, maybe we should find a less demanding course elsewhere”

Modern education is a lot more competitive, especially in this country where the nutters who call themselves our Government have decided that 50% of people should go into higher education, despite the fact that most of them can’t spell. How you market those courses has less to do with Quality issues and PESWTEL analysis and more to garish adverts in laddish and girlie magazines.

I think that you are to the wrong track.

    Sincerely
