Is there a typical organizational structure which illustrates the supporting functions reporting to the Marketing Department?

    Many times it varies form one organization to the next depending on size, budgets, projects etc. Usually sales and marketing teams work closely with each other, as wellas the accountants for evenue tracking etc.

    Well, you can look at Michael Porter's Value Chain Analysis (yep, Michael Porter - again) and determine if this is a good answer to your question.

    Porter states that in any organization there are typically 5 primary value adding activities or "departments".

    Inbound Logistics
    Operations
    Outbound Logistics
    Marketing and Sales
    Service

    Supporting these 5 departments are the:

    Firm Infrastructure
    Human Resources Management
    Technology Development
    Procurement
