I generally perform well in interviews, however, I wish to give this opportunity my best shot. My career history includes: 10 years Marketing Comms Manager experience in IT/Telecoms, Professional Services, Public Sector, Financial Services.

This does not mean the fact that I am asking for tips-that I lack confidence in any way...It has been a while since I had a strong interview...

I normally read through the job description in detail, review the company background material, present my marketing portfolio etc.. To stand out from the crowd I work through the job description as above and for each point, I refer to my previous experience in the SMART principle, thus demonstrating my ability to perform.

Do any experienced Marketers/Directors/Consultants have any the expertise-to add any valued input?

Your feedback will be gratefully appreciated.

The best thing you can do is lots of research on the company. Talk to customers, competitors, former employees, industry pundits, anyone who can help you understand how they tick.

Then when you get to the interview be ready to tell them why you are the perfect person to address their most pressing need. If you have done your homework well, you'll score a bull's eye on the need, so they'll be eagerly listening to your promised solution.

This approach is at the core of what's recommended in The Potato Chip Difference : How to apply leading edge marketing strategies to landing the job you want. It's worth getting a copy of the book to be sure you don't miss any tricks. (www.potatochipdifference.com)

The book also recommends that you get, read, and understand a great book on The Selection Interview by Richard Fear. It will help you help the interviewer do a better job of evaluating you for the job, and that means you get a hand in structuring the evaluation criteria.

Good luck. It sounds like you're way ahead of most job seekers. Now you just need the finishing touch.
