Master Of Science In Marketing

I am willing to pursue a Master's Degree in Marketing in order for my studies to be as focused as possible to this specific field but I was surprised to see that very few and not highly ranked American schools offer such a degree. All Graduate Business Schools offer an MBA with a concentration in Marketing(or other concentrations) but not a Master of Science in Marketing. Do you know why is that the case? Are there any good schools that offer such a degree? Finally, do you think that pursuing a Master of Science in Marketing is inferior to an MBA with a concentration in Marketing?

    Look into Northwestern University's Master's in Integrated Marketing Communication. I believe that it is an MS offered by its Medill School of Journalism.

    It is a very reputable program and one-of-a-kind. I looked into back in college... even took the GREs, but took a job instead. I guess you don't need my life story, but I hope this helps.

    I think you're better served getting the MBA with a concentratoin in Marketing. It will give you a broader perspective about the many issues involved in running and managing a business, and it will put marketing in a proper perspective.

    The Krannert Business School at Purdue University for years offered an MSIA (Master of Science in Industrial Administration) and focused heavily on quantitative analysis, decision theory, and other technical aspects. I think they now have re-named the program and offer only an MBA degree, because Industrial Administration sounds too limiting for what they include in the program.

    I suspect the actual courses, however, haven't changed much, and they still recruit heavily from engineering schools and other science/technology centers.

    The Krannert Graduate School has been ranked in the top 25 by a few of the B-school raters. It's not Harvard or Stanford or Wharton, but it's a very solid school with a good track record (of what alumni have achieved).

    (Yes, I received my MSIA from the Krannert School and went on to the PhD program at Stanford. I'm an undergraduate engineer.)

    Hi,
    Further to the question asked above, I seem to have a specific difficulty in making a decision and hence seek your advice.Im an MBA in Marketing from India and have been working past 3.5 years in the capacity of a Consultant in the area of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement. I had interned with a brand management company during my MBA. However, now I realize I have moved on from being a seller(educational qualification-wise) to the buyer's side(virtue of work ex).I love the automotive industry and marketing of automobiles and would love to get back into Marketing in the auto industry. For sure, I do not have experience to get in the Marketing side and hence thought if I should do an MS in Marketing rather than an MBA in Marketing from some prestigious universities in the US (not that anybody has offered me an admit on a golden platter). Could you suggest me which is a good university for the MS in Marketing (with a focus on auto) and whether at all I should pursue a higher education.Will be glad if you can help me out asap
