Brandnaming A Product

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Help please. What would be the pros and cons of branding/ naming an industrial product ( car accessory) with a name that is popularly associated to food ( one is a mentholated candy and the other a chain of restaurant)?

some marketing people are saying yes, it could help in the brand recall, but will it be a good move since we are dealing here with a product that deals with cars?

Thank you in advance!

You should try another perspective to generate product names. Here's an example for a starting point.

If you think of CAR as your customer's alter EGO, and you think of your PRODUCT as a personal image enhancer, perhaps you will come up with some product names or associations that stick.

So, if an air freshener = a breath mint, the product is about being KISSABLE. Pucker up? Smooch? Lips?

If car wax = skincare, the product is about looking YOUTHFUL. No wrinkles? Zit free? Glowing? Blushing?

If seat covers = clothing, it's about being STYLISH or COMFORTABLE. Cuddly duds? Spandex curve-huggers?

If wheels = shoes, it's... you get the idea!!
