Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am trying to analyse the response of competitors like Sony and Nintendo to the launch of the Xbox, what was their strategy to combat the entry of Microsoft to the market?

When Xbox first came out, PS2 and Xbox advertised the games that were ONLY on there platform:

Xbox had Halo, fable, some sports games plus a whole lot more games that were only on there platform

Sony had Devil may cry 1, 2 and 3, Final Fantasy X and X2, Kingdom hearts, racing games, some sports games etc etc

Nintendo on had resident evil 4 (which was the ONLY game that looked any good on Game cube, which is now being ported for PS2 and Xbox. :) )

But i think it really pissed people off, LIKE ME, there were games i wanted that were only on Xbox but i had a PS2, and there were games on PS2 that i wanted on and i bought. There were more games i wanted MEGA games that i wanted on PS2 that were not on Xbox like Final Fantasy (The worlds BEST, and BIGGEST fantasy franchise). They soon stopped doing it.

Sony also came out with the Slim PS2 and different colours like silver, red, blue, and white. They promoted the fact that they had over 8,000 games (including PS1's games), while xbox had on a few hundred.
