    Ronin,
Just a thought: If I'm a marketing entrepeneur and I want to start a project that requires engineering, should I learn everything about engineering first and then hire and engineer?

I think it's great that you want to continue learning, but the question is whether you want to become an expert before you hire an expert. OR do you want to be an expert and then do it yourself. The second scenario seems more likely.

    Just curious

Best book is "Planning Your Internet Marketing Strategy" by Robert Wilson at https://www.wilsonweb.com

Also, try the books at www.marketingsherpa.com.

Two places to go for experts are:

https://www.sempo.org (the Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization)

    https://www.emarketingassociation.org (the eMarketing Association)

Also, go to the emarketing section on my site, where I've collected some articles. It's free.

    Ronin,

I agree with Michael. We have many roles in our company and I am really good at mine. I refuse to lose my focus and spread myself thin. I would always advocate hiring talent to execute areas that are outside my passion.

If you want to read a great marketing book then pick up "Marketing Warfare" (20th Anniversary Edition) by Ries and Trout. Even if your product is web based, don't fixate on the e-Marketing portion of your marketing plan until you understand the war you are really in.

    Hope that helps,
