Need To Fill My Resume...

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
hey everybody

I'm 18 year deaf college freshmen taking business administration and taking marketing next year as my specialization yay!

The real purpose is that I want to increase my resume with experiences. I have no job experiences except volunteering for high school. But they are kind of useless because they aren't related to marketing.

Since summer coming up in a few months, which I get 4 months of summer :). This is my chance to improve my marketing resume. I was wondering what jobs should I get that will look good on my resume when i'm ready to apply for marketing jobs after I graduate in 2008.

Thanks

    Kalum,
In a previous life I regularly interviewed college graduates and reviewed their work experience. Any job experience is better than no job experience. I wanted to see young people who had worked for someplace besides the local burger joint or college age bar.
Here are a few suggestions: try to get an intern position with a non-profit or chamber of commerce. I am on the board of museum, they are constantly looking for help with marketing related items. Press releases, updating websites, and working on publishing brochures are all unending tasks.
Volunteering for creative work is always good because you can save your work to demonstrate you did more than run the copy machine.

    Hey Kalum,
Frank and Square Peg are absolutely right......stop the "Local restaurant" thing if you are building up your CV....try to forget about how much money I will be making in this or that.....focus on a job that spells out experience, motivation and ambition...try non-profit organizations, try "clerking" for some kind of Marketing company, BLT or ATL....anything that puts you in the work atmosphere of the degree you are seeking......this helps a lot iand interview for jobs later on the line.....

    Good Luck
